I've always hated their rankings. So I was checking Calvin Johnson's rivals ranking, and they had him as a 4 star recruit. So from now on, Rivals.com please STFU.:thumb: http://georgiatech.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=18332 Other F ups they've also made: JaMarcus Russell - Top 3 pick - 4 stars Laron Landry - Top 10 pick - 4 stars Dwayne Bowe - Mid to late first round - 4 stars Glen Dorsey - Possibly a top 5 pick - 4 stars Ciron Black - Freshman All-American - 3 stars!!!:dis: Joe Thomas - Top 5 pick - 4 stars Brady Quinn, although I hate to say it - Top 5 pick - 4 stars Other than that, I wanted to check Peyton Manning's, but you cant get anything older than 2002.
Give the coaches credit here too- for two things: 1/ Recognizing talent and not being star stuck 2/ Player development cause the "Stars" are based on what they did in HS. What you do with 'em after you get 'em is another thing :thumb:
Basically the stats you put up would suggest Rivals did a good job. 4*'s are great COLLEGE prospects. Their stars are for college teams, not the NFL. You cou;ld have a 5* Option QB do great in college and not get drafted. So those are not good examples at all. I think it is pretty safe to say they do a better job than the average person.
And all of those mentioned were more than great college prospects. But if the top 5 players drafted are all 4 stars, then who are you going to give the 5 stars? sixth rounders?
Those star rankings are subjective and surely no 100% tell tale. This is an old post of mine to show you how much they sometimes mean: :thumb:
I know that tirk and I both hate the stuffing out of rivals. I'm sure that in this case he's cool with me offering that opinion in his stead.
