Broussard has definitely emerged as our #1 back now. He and Addai are gonna be one helluva 1-2 punch next year with a more experienced O-line. Whose the tougher runner? I sure as hell can't tell. It's a tie.
Right now it does seem Addai and Broussard are the answers at RB. It is good to know that if any would falter or get injured, which i hope does not happen, we still have JV on the sidelines waiting to get his spot back. LSU is set at RB for the next couple of years, at least. Next year should be fun watching Broussard, Addai and Vincent fight for carries as we pound teams into submission. Throw in some play action passes to DBowe and Early, a few screens to Skyler and XC and we will be quite an offensive force next year. This is the formula we used last year, with the cast of characters being played by Devery and MC rather than Carter, Doucet and Bowe. Back to the original post, yes, I love seeing Broussard in the backfield, and love seeing Addai and JV back there as well.
I am glad to see AB have a year that I thought he would have had. It looks kike he had the hot legs for Saturday. JA had that tyupe of night against UF.
You think JV can ever get back into the hunt at RB? I just don't see it. It was painful to see him carry it those few times Saturday night and gain so little yardage, especially with Broussard and Addai running at will all night long. JV is by far the biggest mystery this year. But his effort on special teams and his Team First attitude cannot be underestimated. I am sure Saban is just as proud of this kid now as he was at the end of last year. At the very least, JV will forever be known for running his way to LSU's national title.
I hate to keep using the same excuse, but the holes aren't there for JV, even last night when the run blocking was superb, there were a few times when there were guys in the backfield by the time JV got the ball. But he clearly isn't running as hard this year as he did last year, probably due to his fumbling issues. Its something that I think can get resolved in the offseason, but I don't see it happening this year. The effort is there from JV, you can see it on special teams, but when he has the ball in his hands I think he is just scared to death that he is going to lose it.
