You keep hearing that the hotels may suffer because we're in the game instead of USC. With Oklahoma expected to travel well and the large LSU fanbase outside of Louisiana (like myself) that feels compelled to be in New Orleans even though we don't have tickets, could decent hotels within walking distance of the Superdome become hard to find? Just trying to figure out if I need to make reservations now.
I don't think it's possible to get hotel rooms anywhere in the city with out buying a package. Last I heard the Traveling Tiger packages were going for $2300 per couple.
There are hotel rooms available, but most require at least a 3 night minimum ... just like Mardi Gras. I just did a search on expedia.com and found some available, but they are going for at least $250 per night. Thankfully, some of us booked months ago
Might just have to sleep in the car for a few hours to sober up, wouldn't be the first time after a long night on Bourbon St. Just have to remember to hide the keys outside of the car somewhere. Can you get a DWI if sleeping in your car with the keys in the trunk?
New Orleans will not lose money on the Sugar Bowl. The hotels will fill up with the three night stays. If they get hard up, they will drop down to 2 night stays.
You should be OK if you are sleeping in your car, just don't do it in the McDonalds drive through like the Arkansas player.
There are proably plenty of hotel rooms avaiable on the northshore which at the most is a 45 min drive.
Arkansas linebacker busted for DUI FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas linebacker Samuel Olajubutu has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest on DUI charges over the weekend. Coach Houston Nutt announced the suspension after Olajubutu, 20, was arrested and charged Sunday morning. Early reports stated that he was found sleeping in the back seat of a car parked at a fast-food restaurant in Fayetteville, but a police spokesman said Monday that Olajubutu was driving the car when a police officer saw him and began questioning him. The incident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. when a manager at a McDonald's restaurant called police to report a customer who had fallen asleep in a vehicle stopped in the drive-through lane. Police arrived at the McDonald's, but did not see Olajubutu driving into the parking lot. Olajubutu failed a field sobriety test and was arrested and given a blood-alcohol test at the police station. He will be arraigned Dec. 29 on the misdemeanor charge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.courttv.com/people/penalty_box/111803_ctv.html
