Is there any hotels that are worth staying at that are close to Tiger Stadium. My brother called me last night and told me that he has some tickets for the Alabama game. I am thinking that instead of meeting him at his house (he lives in Houma), we might just get a hotel room in Baton Rouge and then spend the night after the game. That way we wouldn't be drinking and driving. I would like to stay at a hotel that is within walking distance or has a shutlle to and from the game. Any help would be appreciated.
The Sheraton downtown is a couple of miles up Nicholson from the stadium. It's attached to the Belle of BR Casino if that interests you. http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1362
If you book within 14 days, you can get a $169 room for about $70 through Priceline. They already accepted this bid for me.
He should sell me the tickets and save himself the hassle. He'll be much happier watching it in the comfort of his living room.
There is nothing within walking distance. The Sheraton at The Belle casino is the closet, but it's probably a good 2 mile hike. While it's safe at the hotel, I would not recommend walking down Nicholson if it's a night game. Don't know if the hotel offers any kind of bus shuttle to the game, but it would be worth asking. There is only one shuttle bus route that I know of. It picks up from the Picadilly on government street, but there are no hotels near that point. Again, not the best area of town.
There is also the Lod Cook Hotel on campus but it may be tough to get a room. http://www.thecookhotel.com/
Since there is really nothing within walking distance you can find something in the area and hop a cab. If need be PM me and and we can set up a ride back. I don't mind a bit. If you are willing to go early I can pick you up too but I have to be at the stadium 4 hours before kickoff.
