I know some of you folks cook up big time for any game, but in very hot afternoon weather, my gang tends to go lighter. This week, I'm told, we're having a make-you-own po-boy smorgasboard, some hot wings, and the usual chips and dips. I doubt if we break out the cooker or the grill before October, as hot as September has been for the last four years. We have been known to just grab takeout from Popeyes for morning games to simplify things. We did a shrimp remoulade in hot weather once that was popular with plenty of fresh boiled shrimp on ice. We've brought a seafood platter from Tony's many times, as well. Got some new hot-weather tailgate ideas to try this hot september?
Mine sandwich reads: Name (which when the older gentleman yells it it is nothing like my real name) NOT HA Bring a bunch of oysters, those are good when its hot. West Indies, too.
Since it has not been mentioned yet I'll go out on a limb and suggest ice cold beer. You may want to interrupt the intake of beer with a cold pasta salad add chicken or swimps, cold boiled swimps, a veggie tray with dip (core out a purple cabbage and place ranch dressing therein), potato salad, fried chicken done the night before. We usually grill something regardless of the temperature.
