Went to Arnaud's on Bienville/Bourban St. and must say I expected a lot and got NOTHING. Service was so slow our waitress left us at first and didnt come back until we asked. Food was not even that hot and tasteless. Ugh, just an overall bad experience.
If you're going to do the fine dining thing in NOLA, from Arnaud's, go back up Bourbon a half-block toward Canal, and check out Galatoire's. Everything is a'la carte, so it's kind of pricy, but you won't be sorry you went.
Is Galatoire's still cash only. They used to have the freshest fish in town because they paid cash to the vendors so they'd get first choice.
It seems that I've heard that they take credit cards now, but I'm not sure...every time I've been there (3 times) I've paid cash. I know that one thing HAS changed...they now take reservations on a limited basis for special occasions.
Damn. Last time I went to Galatoire's was sometimes in 2000. mmmmmm, I just may go there next weekend :thumb:
Do one thing better than that. Go to Mr. B's Bistro. Iberville and Royal (perhaps?). One block off Canal (which is Iberville). Never had a bad meal at Mr. B's, and now my wife, who is from Lafayette, only wants to eat at Mr. B's when we go home to visit.
A year ago, I went to Brennan's for a brunch with my family. Bland. Very dissapointing. The absinthe was delicious, though. Peace, MCab
