1. for all the college baseball fans,

your beloved texas longhorns and nebraska kick off a weekend series at hawks field in lincoln on espn2 at 6pm tonight. this is great for college baseball and a very good result (in my opinion) of the nhl pissin' into the wind.

the saturday and sunday games will also be on (regular espn) at 1 and 1:30 respectively.

nebraska always plays texas really well in the regular season and it wouldn't surprise me if the corn took 2/3 this weekend the way they have been hitting. they are really pounding the ball lately and we're still limping along on offense. it would be a really good weekend to bust out the sticks again...hopefully our pitching will turn it up quite a bit.

i know tirk will be covered from head to toe in burnt orange.

anyway, tune in to some college baseball this weekend on national tv. the better ratings these guys get, the more they will realize that college baseball needs to become a mainstay in the spring once basketball season is over...

good luck with the cockgobblers this weekend.
  2. We would definitely tune in except LSU starts at 6:30 and we BR natives will be out at the Box. I don't see a conflict between others who stay home and watching it while turning on 98.1 tho :) thx for the info :hihi:

  3. lsu with their 3 lefty rotation going against the cocks 3 righties. quite an oddity in college baseball especially against ranked programs.

all 3 SC pitchers bring it around 89-91 and all 3 have 2 breaking balls (curve and slider) and at least 3 pitches... per turtle thomas. quite a rotation. could be quite a few called strike 3 pitches. certain years in skip's tenure I swear i had never seen so many guys take a 3rd strike on any level of baseball.

then again, pitchers of ben mcdonald's caliber likely go straight out of high school and pitching depth was much deeper. i need to look up ben's stats to recall how great he really was.
  4. Good to finally see college baseball on TV

  5. According to talk radio, ESPN has contracted to show several baseball games. However---when they contacted the SEC, they said they would show some SEC games. However, they would not pay to broadcast. They felt like the NATIONAL EXPOSURE would be enough. They said it cost them in the neighborhood of 30/40K to broadcast. Several other conferences jumped on it. The SEC said " No pay--no show." Hope this doesn't come back to bite us......
  6. It was big news around here when it was announced that the Horns would be playing on national TV quite a few times this year. I looked over the schedule and wondered what was up with the SEC. I should have figured it was all about the bucks.
  7. texas was screwed on a phantom balk call which tied the friday game. trust me, if it was close I would give anyone besides texas the benefit of the doubt. heh

then Nebraska wins in 16th on a wildpitch. ouch. ESPNU showed the replay of entire game a few times.
