I know this guy does not seem to be asking for money, but I can remember the news following a few people asking for money on street corners in Baton Rouge and in Dallas that ending up having decent houses and life styles. Stuff like this is why I tell my wife that if she wants to give money to the homeless find a well known shelter or organization and give them money (or needed items) but to not just hand money to just someone on a street corner. homeless by choice
i think almost every homeless person is homeless by choice. however i dont think this is because they are lazy, but rather because they are insane. i dont believe the myth of the hardworking homeless family man. i guarantee that if you or i were homeless we would find a shower and be working a minimum wage job within hours, and have a cheapass apartment within days or weeks. but then again, we are sane. mcdonalds is always hiring.
I used to know this guy who would stand by the interstate off ramp every day with a "Will Work for Food" sign. He looked so bad that nobody would dare offer him work at their home but he got enough money every day in a couple of hours to supply his daily drug and booze habits. Then there was this other guy who I would see him park near where I was working every day and walk to the interstate exit with his sign. He drove a late model Toyota or Honda one of my co workers said the guy went to the same church he did and on Sundays the "homeless guy" was always dressed in an expensive suit.
