Something definitely needed to be done to shore up our national security following 9/11, but the creation of the Dept. of Homeland Security definitely wasn't it. All it did was add another layer of bureaucracy to an already too-large government. Improved communications and information-sharing between the CIA, FBI, NSA, and military intelligence would have been the answer. But that made too much sense. Let's just follow our gut reaction, and add another layer of government. One of the things I fault George Bush on.
If the ACLU and the Democrats would keep their noses out of it, Homeland Security would be a simple matter.
yep, no fault of their owns, just everyone elses. Excuses are like ass holes and you seem to be playing around with to many.
Registered Democrat, Homeland Security failures are of their own, I guess the excuse you could use is hurricane katrina interfered with their operations as well. Since we're throwing blame around.
Balance renders it ineffective. I subscribe to the "if you're not guilty you have nothing to worry about" theory. After listening to 5 minutes of my phone conversations, they would move on. I don't use the Katrina excuse since Bush created it and directed it to the lower ninth.
