And there he goes. This is a smart move for the gamecocks, if Spurrier comes in and coaches the bowl game it could really help their recruiting situation for next year. LINK
WOW!!!! Really suprised that he will not coach a possible bowl game. It is probably best for SC but I can't ever remember a retiring coach letting his successor take over for the post season.
If I'm not Mistaken, when we hired Nick Saban away from Mich. St. - He didn't coach them in their Florida Citrus Bowl Game on New Years Day....Instead it was his understudy assistant Head Coach, which ended up being Mich. St. New Head Coach. Maybe I'm wrong or just dreaming ??
The difference is that Saban didn't retire, he took another job. Many times a coach that takes another job doesn't coach a bowl game but one retiring I can't remember one.
he is not coaching because South Carolina may be barred from playing in the bowl for the brawl against Clemson. Clemson said today they will decline all bowl offers this year as punishment for the brawl. http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/7916916
