While on the toilet, i was pondering something...

Given that most people using this rail will be gamblers up for days on end, drunks reeking of alcohol (some having defecated in their pants), crack-heads, and a whole host of other degenerates with just plain ole nasty BO, how awful will this train stink?

Let's say 10 years after the rail is complete and running, how bad will the proletariat passenger cars stink? Scale 0-10. 10 being worst.

    I think a 9.

Any nicknames for this train? The Devil's Buttcrack?

(excuse the typo in the header)

I'm just happy that while in vegas, my booty calls to Paris hilton will be answered more quickly. It will give me just enough time to disinfect and immunize my body for her visit.......yay!!!

I can only hope this doesn't happen. It's been talked about for years. The flights are so cheap and quick, it makes little sense. Besides, what loss do these systems operate at? They are all subsidized by our tax dollars and top heavy with gov't funded directors and managers whose job seems to be traveling around the world on junkets checking out other nation's light rail which has little or no bearing on our particular situation...

This is just another party plan to keep the construction and operating unions in line and make it look like the gov't is doing something positive for the Greenies when it's just continuing to bleed our tax cash...

This is just another example of government waste.
I say its government waste at every level because most transit systems lose money because they don't have many riders.
In some areas it may make sense but in many areas the buses, light rail, etc are empty.
They think they can spend money better than we can.

I wish that's all it was. Really, it's a way for Harry Reid (D-NV) to bring more tax dollars to the state of Nevada while taking the money from taxpayers of other states to pay for it.

The high-speed rail systems in Europe and Japan are popular, efficient, and profitable.

    Never been to Vegas, eh?

These trains would look be as pristine and luxurious as a Las Vegas casino, at least the European high-speed trains are--clean and with plenty of attendants. Some of them actually have casinos on the train while they move around Europe at 300 kph.

Vegas high speed rail would be competing for upscale airline and driving clientele to switch modes to a fast, safe, pleasant, green, and reasonably-priced ride. They aren't competing with hitchhiking or the Greyhound bus.

with the nightmare that is I-10, y'all need one going from Houston to N.O.

theyve been trying to get one from Athens to ATL for a while (no interstate to Athens) but too many republicans here.

There has been talk about a high-speed rail system that makes a triangle between Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, That one would probably be popular and successful. The East coast corridor between Boston and Richmond has the capacity to support one, too.

Traffic density is the key. The US is just too big for low-density traffic to support high-speed rail. But high-density corridors like LA to Vegas are a natural.

Actually i have, and i remember how much it stunk as i walked down the strip, main-drag. Most people i talked to about Vegas had that experience. Hotels/casinos were pristine.

Why on earth would you put another horrible scar on Mother Earth? Let's zip there in planes for now & invest in Jetson Type Çar Technology. Look, the degenerates will still get there, they'll take Buses like they always do. Why invest billions to save them a tad bit of time?
