...do you remember some of the conversations we had about the hire?

One of those had to do with a team not being able to repeat what Bama did in the '70's...

You win this game...LSU is on the brink of repeating that.

    Just sayin'

Still, it's hard to imagine any team in the 25-scholarship era stockpiling the amount of talent that Bryant amassed to create that record.

I will admit it with BOTH hires Saban and Miles I had huge question marks over my head.
I was Like WHO THE HECK IS LES MILES !. Then you look him and you find his zany things he did before bedlam games.
One thing I have come to the conclusion of. Trust the leadership at LSU when selecting coaching for football.
The have nailed it the last 2 hires.

Saban to, I was like "Isnt that the guy LSU hammered in the Independence Bowl"

Which brings me to another point. You guys remember how excited we were when we made the Peach Bowl. I went to Atlanta it was a party man, and we beat Ga Tech. We used to play in Independence bowls, etc. Now we are bitter and want to fire the coach if its not BCS.
    Man have times changed.

it's funny you say that. I went back a couple of days ago and pulled some of the old threads when he was hired thinking I may resurrect one for fun but the good posts were spread across a few different threads so I just left it alone. One thing I did see was you being pretty vocal but respectful about the fact that you didn't really know who Les was and that we could do better.

When we hired him, I remember being okay with it but only after I realized there really wasn't a big name out there to be gotten. Of course we've all questioned him at one time or another but I'm sure he has the full faith of the tiger nation now. Or at least for the moment.

I remember saying "who in the hell is Nick Saban" when we hired Saban. No one knew who the guy was before he was hired at LSU.

LSU made Nick Saban when Saban woke the sleeping giant.

Yep, the people at Mich. St. said the things about him and they were right. We you offer the entire staff and no one comes to BTR with you........Les is a great change.

I wish I had the time to research those old threads to see which coaches lsu fans wished we had hired and how they've done the past five years compared to Lester. I'm guessing some have been successful while others have gotten fired. I know that the banter among guys that were pretty tight before Les was hired got so ugly that many members quit the forums they frequented. One of my favorite ones disappeared.
