When Nick Saban started at LSU, he went through his share of rough spots, but so does every coach. The decision to start Booty over Davey, probably still haunts him to this day. But ever since 2001 when we saw the emergence of the Saban system, we knew it would work. We lost some big games along the way, but always knew that the guy on the sidelines was ready. He would prepare our team the best he could, and had assembled a great combination of talent and coaching. Even in 2002 when we lost 4 games... and gave up a halftime lead to Texas. We still knew, we bitched, but we knew... Our coach on the sidelines is in control and is the best in the country. With Les Miles, its different. He came into LSU with a National Championship team. Who knows how well Saban would have done with this same team... hell he may have lost 2 games by now. With Miles on the sidelines, we don't see the determination, the constant teaching, we don't see him constantly breaking down in his mind, what the other coach is planning and improvising. We see a Michigan Okie staring at the scoreboard. ln interviews he isn't well spoken and has trouble conveying his knowledge of the game. He seems lost and it shows in our team. We have played sloppy all year. Penalties, turnovers, dropped passes, poor clock management. And yes we are 10-1 and won the SECW again. l know, and i am happy everytime the Tigers take the field. The only thing i am worried about is becoming a cellar dweller again. Believe it or not Pellini will not be here long. He took this job as a spring board to a coaching position of his own. lf he doesn't leave this year, i would say only 1 more year at most. Pellini's defense (after the ASU game) has carried us all season. Our offense has been good to mediocre to downright bad. Maybe its just the players... maybe coaching. But until i see that desire from Miles to be the best... i will most likely blame him.
I remember us dropping alot of passes in 02. Michael Clayton didn't come on right away after Josh Reed left.
This argument is getting old. Saban was, indeed, a great coach, and I was happy to have him. However, he wasn't perfect, either. Should UGA have REALLY blown us out by 30 points last year? Was our '04 team at all prepared for the target that was on their backs all season? The list could go on and on. I hope LSU stays on top, and I hope Les Miles is the man to keep us there. If he isn't, a change will be made, and the world will keep on turning.
Good Post. Pretty much my exact thoughts but whenever you say anything negative about Miles here its a dogpile so I gave up. I think the exact same thing, for example when C. Jackson kicked the ball out of bound against Arky, I specifically look at Miles, he was walking the other way looking up at the scoreboard. I remember when that happened before Saban would meet him at the 50 and "coach" him back to the bench. I hope Miles continues to bring happiness to us, he is a very nice guy and what I do like about him is he is very "LSU" I never remember seeing Saban at any basketball games or Baseball games. That I do like about him, he loves it here and I think he really looks at this place as a possible home. Which for me if he keeps us competitive is good enough for me.
 Yeah, Saban would have choked against Tennessee with a 21-0 halftime lead ... and who else ... :dis: Yup, and his little eunich Fisher ... too
Not to be bitchy, but this is like the 100th post on how bad we are or the coaching is........I guess everyday we will have this posted on the board? Brett, just make a sticky at the top with the title COACH SUCKS....... should keep most happy and we wouldn't need 5-10 threads per day.:yelwink2: It's getting real hard for people to enjoy this site when all you see is negitive post about this team, coach, ect.......I don't know about others but a big part of my enjoyment with LSU Football has been this board, talking over the next opponent or about the last game played. I mean heck we are 10-1, couldn't we go one day without a bunch of negitive post about our team? Heck the basketball team lost last night, work them over for a little while and give the football team a break at least untill after the SECCG......PLEASE.
From the vantage point of an outsider looking in, I have the distinct feeling that there is a whole lot more to Les Miles than what people are seeing when he is in front of the TV camera or walking the sidelines. Winning the SEC West was pretty much expected of him coming in. The worst he can do at this point is go 10-3. Miles has maintained the status quo on the field, but I would be watching more closely to see how he does in the area of recruiting. February should reveal more about what his chances are for future success.
I don't agree. To some he will never do anything right because you can't spell Miles with Saban. So far his recruiting is going pretty goood, and if anything that was one of his high marks coming to LSU-----He was and is a good at recruiting.
