Thinking about our situation and projecting LSU- Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl lets look at some positives coming from it: 1.) The Sugar Bowl is played as the only game on Jan.3rd. That means recruits see us on a national scale on national television with no other tv competition. 2.) Near for our fan base to be loud and pumped up. 3.) A chance to play Notre Dame and beat em with Charlie The Savior as their Coach. 4.) New Orleans is never a bad place to party even for LSU. Because one thing LSU fans may do better than play sports is party. 5.) It will bring in alot of revenue because even for people who dont have tickets will travel down just to be there. 6.) Good chance for LSU to finish in the top 5 and set up a high ranking for next year and a possible NC run for ourselves. 7.) This ties in to if Fla. can beat Ohio St. and LSU beating a Fla. team next year in Death Valley. Giving the SEC some much needed style points. The glass is definately half full and the person holding the pitcher is still pouring!!!
The last thing I want is a UF championship... They don't need anymore recruiting help with Miami and FSU acting like my first goldfish (i.e. going down the toilet)
So you dont want a team from the SEC to win a NC, moreoever a team on LSU's schedule for years to come, I could not disagree more, I will always pull for the SEC when it is an out of conference game, especially in the SEC.
Sorry, I meant to end it with: I will always pull for the SEC team when they play an out of conference game, especially when it is for a National Championship.
If they get to the National Championship game then I will pull for the SEC team, but until then I am only thinking about :tigerhead . I don't care about anyone else.
I would much rather have an SEC team UF win the NC than Ohio State, i hate ohio state with a passion. Granted the sugar is not a step back really, but after everyone here had been hoping/expecting the rose bowl. thats the bowl we all really want. We have an opportunity to represent the SEC for the first time in 60 years in the Rose Bowl. And if UF doesn't get in somehow, we would be playing in a better bowl than them despite them beating us and being SEC Champs.
Forgive me if I don't just jump all over Florida to win the MNC. To be honest, I hope Ohio State wins mainly because, we recruit against Florida more than we do against OSU, and they don't need a MNC to help them with their recruiting. The SEC is just a conference, I could care less how any of them do when it comes to national championships. I hope every one of them win their bowl games except when a NC is involved, unless it would have involved USC or Texas.
Right but if we beat florida next year or anyone else does, it kinda cancels it out. Florida had the #1 recruiting class this year, so they will always be up there anyways. If you want to argue that the SEC is the best conference, you need the SEC teams to win some NC's. Just imagine all the big ten fans coming here saying the SEC is overrated if UF loses.
Lots of positives with a Sugar. Just the exotic nature of the Rose to an SEC team makes it so appealing. And against a traditional power that we never played. Was hoping to see USC get trounced by OSU too.
