Suncoast you dont have to be an azz, because someone doesnt agree with you on LSU football. It is called Tigerforums. You have some good points, but your not connecting the dots here. Bama has struggled against 2 teams not in the SEC. We went on the road and beat a good Auburn team. Thats an impressive win, just like Bamas win was impressive, however, Saban was wise enough to realize they got outplayed in the second half. LSUs secondary is much better than Bamas secondary, thats Bamas weakness as well. So we will be able to run and throw against that defense. Georgia just got exposed. What you fail to connect is that fact that Bama has a great offensive line, (we all see that). However, LSUs Defense line is way better than Georgias. Bama wont be able to run the ball on LSU like they did against Georgia. But we will be able to throw and run on Bama because our O-line is way better than Bamas defensive line.
I don't disagree about Charles Scott. I think we need to run him 40 times vs UF. Put him behind Ciron and Big Baby and let him go. But we have to line him up in the I formation. We should not offset him to the QB and let him run laterally along the LOS. Thats Keiland or Murphy or #8. When Scott is in the game, line him up and let him roll downhill. I am glad you know what the defensive problems are. I hope the coaches do. I hope they correct it. Because its EXACTLY like you said. If they don't Harvin (and every other WR we play from any good team) will light us up. Floridas D did not look top notch vs Ole Miss. First and foremost, their Dline sucks. But Florida's D is not the standard. The standard is our healthy D from last year. UGA sucked Sat night. Partly because Bama came in and punched them in the mouth, kicked them in the nuts, and choked the living crap out of them for about the whole first half. But UGA isn't the standard. I don't know you want to compare LSU down. Lets look at what teams do well and play to stop that. You think if we played like we did vs MSU and Bama played the way they did vs UGA we win that game? I don't. And that was my point. What was yours? I think the best way to beat Missouri is one, as you say, pound them with Charles Scott. Two, its to pound on Chase Daniels. Because Macklin isn't going to be like Ducre and drop a bunch of passes. But if you can get to CD and knock him down hard, bruise him and beat him up, he might not be so accurate with his passes and so willing to let things develp downfield.
Yet Jarrett Lee was Freshman player of the week. LSU really sucks. Send a PM to danthetigerfan. You are made for each other.
Getting Back to the original topic: I am surprised we are in Herbie's Top Twenty! And speaking of Herbie, I better click over to ESPN, I think he is about to report that Les Miles will be named the new coach at Hofstra during the 1st Quarter of the Georgia game.
Ok, let me break it down a little better. That "horrible" pass D gave up less than 200 yds (175 to be exact) in the air. If that's horrible, your expectations are too high. We ain't the 2000 Baltimore Ravens. What part of Tebow's 7 yards rushing turned you so much as to think we're not on their level? Maybe it was the ONE other guy on that entire offense that even showed up that makes you think we can't hang? I know, it was Heisman Moreno's 34 yards (against the 1st defense he's faced all year) that makes you think they'll embarrass us. Was it Bama's ZERO offensive TD's against Tulane? Why is that these teams can have bad games and remain at a "higher level" than us (when 2 of them have embarrassing LOSSES), but we have a bad game and WIN BY 2 SCORES and we're crap, never to compete again? C'mon man think about this one rationally for a minute. This game was never in doubt, defense put it on cruise control for the entire 2nd half (2 D-Lineman not playing after half), and even the stadium lacked emotion because it was only Miss. St.
Good post, Nootch. Guys like Suncoast will never be happy because they demand perfection from LSU at all times regardless of the circumstances or opponent. Miss State's defense is as good as any in the SEC, but that doesn't matter because we were "supposed" to blow them out. He probably had one eye on the Bama/Ga game (like most of us)and saw the score and nothing else yet suddenly Bama (who lost to UL Monroe mere months ago) is a Nat Champ contender at a level LSU can only dream of. I don't know why I let "special people" piss me off, but they do.
Bama was missing two linemen, including Andre Smith and had to move another guy to a new position - that is why they struggled. Their offensive line is what makes them good and without those guys they will struggle. Another reason why our depth is quite underrated and why I like our chances in the west.
