Exciting Times! Wow, I started reading this forum a few weeks ago after stumbling upon them. I am amazed to see the tone that is expressed here after the Ole Miss win. Actually, I should not really be so shocked; LSU fans are perhaps the most passionate anywhere. I started following LSU during the mid 80's and really became enthralled with LSU sports in the mid to late 90's while in college at LSU. During those 3 win seasons where the rent-a-win homecoming game was always a nail-biter...... It was during this "down" time that I was sold on the excitement of LSU football! That speaks volumes for the atmosphere we have for college football here in Baton Rouge! I can not begin to explain how EXCITING this season has been to follow and watch progress! We have a good thing going here, these are happy times. For goodness sake we now have a perennial winner here in tiger town! Saturday was a most-fortunate day for LSU. OSU loses, LSU WINS!!! (poor Eli *sigh*), and Washington St. loses as well (there goes the quality win bonus for USC). Heck, TCU even lost one and now LSU can slide up a spot in a couple of those *rediculous* computer polls/rankings. Short of the impossible of UCLA pulling out a miracle against USC, everything LSU needed to have happen to stay alive in the hunt happened! Think back a couple weeks ago. Florida St. Lost, Va. Tech lost, Miami lost. Each and every one of these teams were media darlings at some point during this year. Each of these teams are consistent winners year-in and year-out as well. To draw a parallel here: If you think back to Va. Tech's first "good" season, for instance, they had a very difficult time gaining respect. But like it or not for the media, Va. Tech has now won consistently year in and year out. The media has no choice but to give them their due respect (until their annual chokefest in November heh). The point is, LSU will not gain respect overnight, or over one season. It will be gained over multiple seasons of pre-season top 10 rankings and top 10 finsihes. At this point the future looks VERY bright for LSU football. The respect will be earned. LSU a media darling.... It could happen sooner than you might think! I suppose this is just about enough rambling for my first post here. Anyone who comes across USC and Oregon St. message boards, please post the links. What a difference a year makes. At the time I made those comments, I would never have thought we'd be playing Oregon State this year. Just wanted to see what my first post on TF was. *gives positive reputation points to all of those who welcomed me*
