I'm sure everyone noticed Hawthorne's botch of the call of Henderson's game winning catch. If you didn't, during his "reaction" he says that Jack Hunt caught the touchdown. guy hadn't played receiver since last year and barely played then.

Anyway, tonite on Tiger Recap they dubbed over it with him saying Devery Henderson caught it. With the same full energy as his actual call. Wouldn't you have liked to be in the studio yesteray when they were doing it...how many takes did that take?

Yea, with all the times they have played that audio of him saying Jack Hunt caught the ball on ESPN, and all over the country, he must feel like a real idiot. My question is, how does a play by play guy who has been calling LSU games for so long get Jack Hunt confused with Devery Henderson?? That is something you would never expect. Maybe if he was an national announcer who didn't call every LSU game and know that Jack Hunt is not a black reciever, but a white saftey, he could be excused, but that is just awful.

I don't know about you, but at that exact second he was making the call, I would have had a hard time remembering my own name there were so many things going through my mind.

I don't fault him one bit, but for future reference, maybe he should practicing desperation play calls every Thursday.

I am unsure of Jack Hunt's number but isnt it #8? I think he thought he saw that number instead of #9. Easy mistake to make in the heat of the moment.

We are lucky to have Jim instead of a race car expert that Bama has.

Hey people, get a life! So Hawthorne makes a mistake. so what? I suppose all of you bashers have never made one, hmmm? I used to broadcast HS football games and it is easy to get all caught up in the emotion of the moment. It's not like the end of the world, for Pete's sake. What IS foolish though is the LSU athletic administration editing the tape. Hey Skip, look around you. That call is a part of one of the finest plays in LSU history. Let stand as it was called. End of rant.

Every time LSU plays on JP, the play-by-play guy (Neal, is it?) says that one of LSU's players (#6??) is from Opelousas, AL and I wind up screaming at the TV. I wonder if he's confusing Opelousas with Opelika?

Classic Hawthorn - This one is hit a ton, back, back, back, back - caught by the second baseman.

Although he catches a lot of crap, he loves LSU and I as much of the LSU family as Mike the Tiger.

Wow GrayTiger; can you say overreaction? I don't think anybody was severly admonishing hawthorne, the first poster just said that they dubbed over the mistake, and I wondered how he could get the two players confused, and I did it in a light-hearted tone, not a critizising one. I said he must feel like an idiot because a mistake he made has been so widely publicized, and everytime he hears it he must be pissed he got it wrong, not because I thought he was an idiot. Your right, it isn't the end of the world, and no one even remotely acted like it was.
