    A few posters seem to have already reached the conclusion that JR is a bust. What do you think

    I voted no, but my answer lies somwhere in the middle. I think he can be a good QB, but I would be really excited to land Perriloux and I think Flynn can win the job as well.

    While I certainly would've liked to see him progress more this year, I think the jury is still out on him. If he hasn't significantly improved by this time next year, I will probably change my mind.

    I am happy that LSU was able to have a nice 9-2 season that also allowed for Russell to get a considerable amount of playing time. No way I can write him off.

    I learned from Rohan to never right off a QB early in their career

    His play this year may have given us a legitimate shot at
    Perriloux.

    He should have to fight for the #1 next year just as he did this year.

    If he wins it, I have faith that he will come through at some point..

    The only downside is that he seemed to regress as the season went on.

    He still deserves a chance, though.

    JR = JC

    JR reminds me of the aubbies QB JC. I believe that JR will eventually be a good QB but are we the "TigerFans" willing to wait 4 more years for him to develop? In my opinion Saban needs to find a QB with more mobility and more smarts to be able to pick of the system a little quicker. I am afraid that by the time JR is ready Saban may not have the team talent that he has now/
    (Hell I may be wrong) wont be the first time...

    it is hard to write off a freshman qb, even if he was throwing interceptions at a jamie howard vs auburn rate. qb is a mental game, you need time to figure it out.

    All of Jimbos quarterbacks have been brought along slowly. A pro-style offense is complex and freshmen just don't step in and know it right away. Booty, Davey, Nall, Mauck, and Randall each were QBs that developed slowly.

    Russell has a lot to learn but he will be a better quarterback next year.

    I voted no for this reason although I do think we need some insurance for next year.
