I'm curious if the boys running the numbers back at the office, notice a large spike in sales in LOUISIANA... and wander? Cuz I'd admit, its the only reason why i purchased and drank it. But like the other slant-eye beers... i do enjoy it!
I had a couple of bottles while in Singapore a few years ago. Not bad. The Japanese also brew some good beer.
Not a bad lager, ifn you like lagers. I'm an ale guy, so.... But my FAVORITE asian lager disappeared many moons ago - South Pacific Lager It actually had a pull-top bottle that was unmistakable - green bottle with a big parrot on the label....
I had that many moons ago at the Chimes - before the remodel. One of my "Around the World" beers. I remember liking it, but I can't remember what it tasted like. Is it anything like Tsingtao? That's the beer I remember it tasting like, but I could be wrong.
Tiger Beer doesn't really taste like Tsing-Tao to me. Both are readily available here in the Bay, and probably there too. South Pacific Lager was bought by Heineken, so it probably tastes more like that now. They haven't had a US importer for probably 10+ years... ...which is too bad. It's one of my favorite lagers of all time.
I've had it...probably for the same reason you guys have. The label is even orange and blue :hihi: I enjoyed it.
Used to travel to Singapore a couple times a year up till this year and Tiger Beer is the local favorite. Its their signature beer so to speak. If you are ever in Singapore go out to the bars on the Quay and they have buckets of Tiger Beer specials. I have seen it a couple of places Like spec's liquer here in Houston. Not beer drinker as more a Vodka person but all the people I traveled with liked it very much. B
