and the defense. Pelini called an excellent game and the defense played great. Looked like the defense of old. Now all we need is the offense to stop turning the ball over and get rid of all those stupid penalties, way too many committed last night.

Yes! Hats off. It was Vandy, BUT, the scheme looked very different than the one we saw against Tenn.

I bleed Purple and Gold. I want our players and our coaches to be successful. Coach Pellini and the Defense did that for 4 Quarters last Saturday night, and I want to give them a standing ovation.

If we can go 9-3 this year by winning our bowl game, I'll be satisfied with this season. If we are 8-4 after the bowl game, I'm going to have a problem with this coaching staff.

I will never consider an 8-win season to be a failure in the SEC. Nick had a couple of them.

It's the Maclendon syndrome. Ol' Cholly Mac clipped along averaging 9 wins a season for well over a decade but got run off for not winning more. Amazing.

I agree somewhat and disagree somewhat. Cholly Mac was not what I would consider successful the last 6 years ghe was aat LSU. If he would have ever hired a real OC he may have beaten some of the good teams in the late 70's and not been forced out.

Simple fact of the matter is that LSU beat the crappy teams on our schedule and lost to a few as well and were not beating any of the good teams. The win in MAC's last game as a coach in the Tangerine Bowl was the only bowl win for him since 1971 I believe, vs ISU in the Sun Bowl.

I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, but I have two points:

    1) If we go 7-4 in the regular season this year, you and others happy with that result will be a tiny minority of LSU fans

    2) Cholly Mac was our most beloved coach ever, but, he won exactly ONE New Year's Day bowl in all of his years of head coaching at LSU. That's not exactly a NCAA Coaches Hall of Fame record . . . he's beloved at LSU, however, and that's appropriate.

What I said was "8 wins is not a failure". How did you determine that I will be happy with 7? The people that draw the line at 8 wins is far from a tiny minority. It's most of us.

I picked LSU for 9-2 in the summer. Since we play five ranked teams, I figured we would lose one or two. I still predict 9-2, but I'm not upset if we win 8.

I really want to see LSU play eight more games before I decide how I feel about the Tiger's season. Seven wins would disappoint me . . . but I'm not going to worry about it now.
