Has there ever been an LSU qb like Russell?

I don't mean this as a mindless lovefest.

The absolutely monumental impact he has on the offensive effort is just staggering. It's as if the game is won or lost on his say so, and even Mauck didn't seem to have that capability.

I mean, cheap shot or not, it could definitely be argued that Russell was largely responsible for us losing to Florida because of his boneheaded turnovers. Conversely, he is responsible for the game winning drive at Tennessee this year and the big comeback versus Arizona State last year, to say nothing of the utter dismantling of the Notre Dame defense last night.

Of course, I probably don't pay ample respect to the quality of the LSU receiving corps. But Mauck had an equally amazing group of receivers.

If Russell stays for next season....

We are going to be destroyers.

I'd take Rohan (without the injuries) over Russell...

I wouldnt say take him over Russell, but Rohan was a great one.
I would throw Tommy Hodson in there as well.

Rohan certainly had the more prolific numbers, but I don't think he even touches Russell. It would be scary to see Russell run the kind of offense we had Rohan's last year here.

yes hes serious, are you surprised at this point? loco is apropos.

I Love me some rohan, the best LSU qb in my sentimental mind but cmon.

Anyone still in awe of that pass to lafell? 58 yards so that was about 68 yards in the air? I thought he was throwing a 5 yard out by his motion.

its so surreal I think it defies physics.

I really don't think there is an Arm in the NFL that could match JR's. He is amazing. How do you roll out of the pocket and throw a 60 yd pass while rolling to the right without ever setting your feet? I haven't seen that in the NFL in a long time. I believe Elway and Marino pulled that sort of stuff off, but I don't know if anyone in the NFL can do that as consistently as JR.

I also believe he can hang with any NFL QB in accuracy from 5-50 yds. LSU can run the quick slants all day only because JR is as accurate as he is. These 2 facts I mentioned (arm strength and accuracy) is what is making QB coaches drool in the NFL. The only struggle he will have is the mental aspect of the game, checking off WR's faster, reading defenses better, knowing what plays to audible too, and making his decisions faster due to the faster NFL players. But if he gets put in the hands of a top QB coach, studies relentlessly, listens, and doesn't get an ego, he could be really great.

JR amazed me last night. He showed up Quinn so bad that I believe he lost Quin about 2 million a year. Quinn's stock fell last night because JR showed him up big time.

i think sportscenter should an entire segment on the throw to lafell. if you didnt watch the ball, you would be positive he threw it 15 years. he doesnt even bother to use his whole arm, much less his legs. his legs can be all over the place, he just fires the howitzer and the recievers keep running. it is spectacular.

    strongest arm in football history.

JR has been the best LSU QB.. Rohan was a great one and so was Hodson but JR is definitely one that will make some noise in the NFL as well. Should set him apart from the other two.
