I'd like to salute my Dad, who fought in the Pacific in WWII (passed away in 1997). He was in theater from June 42 till May 45, and saw combat on New Georgia in 43, Bougainville in 44, and landed at Lingayen Gulf, Phillipines in Jan. 45. His unit entered and held Manilla in Apr. 45. He manned a .30 cal water cooled machine gun until being switched to a scout. In May 45 he came back to Opelousas for his first visit home since being drafted in Jan. 42, 3 1/2 years. The war in Europe ended in May 45, and Dad had enough points and he did not have to go back again. 20 years after the war, he still had nightmares.
To all my Warthawg "brothers" past and present, may you continue to grant the wishes of those desiring martyrdom while you protect those "down below"!!!!:usaflagwa :usaflagwa :usaflagwa :911: :911: :911:
