Well the foxes are in charge of the henhouse now. After decades of trying to oust the strongman in charge of the Palestinians and replace him with a democracy, Palestinians have responded by electing Hamas, an internationally recognized anti-Israel terrorist group to the majority in their Parlament.

Hamas is repsonsible for hundreds of bombings in Israel and the Hamas Charter calls for the total eradication of Israel. Israel is already preparing for the worst and will not negotiate with Hamas. Europe and America have announced it will end aid to Palestine if Hamas is in charge. Things are going to get very bad over there soon and the Palestinian electorate did it to themselves.

In the undereducated, impoverished, ultra-religious Arab world, democracy just doesn't work like it does in the West. The people just ain't ready for it.

Damn, we oughta go in there, bomb the sh*t out of it, and put a democracy in place. And not just any democracy, a democracy where we say who gets elected. That's the only path to long-term stability in the middle east.

Hell we arent a "True" democracy anymore. We are a more democratic form of socialism.

But it is gonna get ALOT worse before it gets better. With Hamas and Iran trying to act like a badass.

Gonna be intresting to see what happens in the next election for us. Another Rep. and we will be at war with Iran. Dem. and the military forces will be cut in half.

Personally I think we should turn the place into a Glass Parking Lot, come back in about 5 years and shoot them while they are glowing in the dark.

Sad state of affairs when we are fighting amongst ourselves more now then in recent history and fighting the rest of the world.

How are we less of a democracy than we were at any time before?

In literal terms, we've never been a "true" democracy. A true democracy would be where every member votes on every issue. That's impossible, so we vote & elect leaders to make choices. Nothing about that has changed... In fact, I'd say we're more of a democracy now than in the past. Voting ability is based soley on age, not land ownership, gender or race anymore.

    I don't see your point...

We vote and elect CAREER Polticans with their own agenda to make those choices. Our country was run more like a true democracy when it was first created, with the exceptions of right to vote. Yes back then not everyone had equal rights, but that is a part that could change over time.

A true democracy is a government run BY the People, not career polticans.

We need to get rid of the electoral colleges, and make every single vote count when it comes to electing a president. And do away with career polticans.

We have no one to blame but ourselves. If we don't vote for career politicians, they won't have a career. I don't see how that isn't democracy.

    Anyway, back on topic!
