Champions of the West? Is there something I'm missing here, because I never considered the state of Michigan to be in the west.
Evanston, Illinois (the location of Northwestern University) is also not in today's Northwest United States, but back in the 1800s, today's Midwest was then the Northwest Territories. Its kind of like traveling east to get to the Westbank in New Orleans, I guess.
