We need anyone we play or have played so far to win as many games as they possibly can. This is going to help our strength of schedule. It looks like a 1 loss team could make it into the NCG this year and SOS is going to be one of the big factors. Also we want Georgia to win as many as possible so we can have a better point increase for Quality Wins. Hopefully they can win out and we can beat them in the SECCG for 2 quality wins.
Does it really matter when we have already or will play teams that are playing each other? For example, since we played Auburn and will play Ole Miss, assuming we beat Ole Miss, I dont think it really matters which one wins. One's win cancels out the other's loss. I could be wrong, though, and Ole Miss never gets any respect, so their only hope is to keep winning until they play us, then feel the wrath of our defense.
All that matters at this point is that we control our own destiny. The national picture will work itself out. As much as the SECCG might hurt the SEC team with the best chance at the NC if they lose, it also helps if that team if they win b/c it will vault you further up in the rankings over team without a conference CG. It also gives the SEC team an advantage over other BCS conference teams without a conference title game. Anyway, controlling our own destiny is the most important factor from yesterday's win . . . no matter how the other teams perform the rest of the year. At this point we can go to the SECCG by winning the remaining SEC games on our schedule, and by doing that put ourselves in excellent position to be a 1-loss team with a chance at the NC. If we lose any of our remaining games we will be dependent on help from others just to make the SECCG.
I care only about the SECC game. Let's get there. Also, if we can't make it, I would rather it be Ole Piss than Auburnt. Go Rebels... Of course if AU beats Ole Miss and then loses to UGA, I will be happier.
I think quality wins is calculated only for the last bowl rankings. So, if we meet uga in the seccg and beat them, they will take a fall in the polls and bcs. That would make our quality wins worth less. I think it would actually be better for us if florida beat georgia and georgia wins out, with uf going to the seccg. Hoping that florida beats fsu and the rest of their opponents, they will possibly be top 10 when we beat them. That should help out in the polls, and with georgia losing earlier in the year they could climb back up higher than they would be in the bcs if they lost their last game. So our quality wins would be worth more over georgia. I agree with you on Ole miss winning the rest of their games up till us.
I don't think that beating the same team twice in a season counts... they only count one of them, IIRC.
The wording of the BCS ranking rules says that if you beat a team twice in the regular season, you only get credit for one quality win. I dont know if that applies to CG's or not. I dont see how you would play a team twice in the regular season.
I don't think this all matters...... Sorry, I really don't think our non-conference schedule was strong enough to let us play for the NC. Other teams from around the country have had tougher schedules+ I don't think Arkansas is that good either. They beat Texas and looked like a top ten team for a week or two but Texas has layed a couple eggs since then and made Arkansas look average again. I do think that the SEC west is stronger than the east however. One More Point, I don't remember if it was this year that a couple of non-conference teams screwed up our schedule or not. I really think the NCAA and the powers in charge NEED to address and resolve situations like next year with Virginia Tech WEASELING out of coming to BR and screwing up our schedule. There isn't enough Consecquences for schools screwing other schools schedules.
