We need to define QB abilities.

What makes Mauck a great college QB is the fact that their is a NCAA Championship flag in Tiger Stadium and his 2 SEC title games victories.

I'll stay on the fence for now.... It's a moot point as to who our starter should be because right now, we don't know exactly how well JaMarcus' shoulder and wrist will respond to offseason surgery/rehab. If he doesn't rehab properly, then he could fall behind--and Flynn could win it by default (then again, you can't rule out RP)...

I'm just glad I don't have to make the final decision (though I wish I had that much pull :D )

Then that should make JaMarcus' 14-2 over-all record as a starter more impressive a feat than what the common Tiger fan will give him credit for...

I enjoyed having Mauck. But he wasn't a great quarterback. He was the quarterback of a great team. Much in the same class as Gino Toretta, Danny Weurful, Josh Hyple, Jason White, Eric Crouch, Ken Dorsey, Tee Martin, and many others.

Just more proof that QB's are not the end all, tell all about football teams. All of those guys hung banners of some kind at their schools too, but most are financial advisors or real estate brokers now. None were great QB's.

I think Flynn is on par with these guys. I don't think anyone is saying he is a bad QB. Just that from a talent standpoint, he doesn't match up with JR.

Guys like JR can single handidly win football games for you. Guys like Flynn need to have 21 other guys be great to win championships. Fortunately at LSU we have a program that can put those types of players around him, and when his time comes he will win football games. It should not be this season though, unless JR can't come back from the injury.

If Glenn Guilbeau writes something that is accurate : (1) he has done so purely by accident; (2) someone else told him about it and he is just trying to stir sh*t ; or (3) both.

On the subject, I don't care who Coach Miles decides to start, I just hope its the QB that puts us in the best position to win. Not being privy to all of the practices, meetings etc. I'm not sure that I have an informed opinion on who precisely that is.

ONCE AGAIN, the inability to seperate team success from an individual QB's ability.

QB abilities include arm strength & accuracy, decision making ability, read & check off capabilities, intelligence, ability to lead the team, and ability to win games. It includes everything.

Maybe I'm wrong (which I'm sure will be pointed out) but it seems like the same people that usually make the argument that a coach is good as long as he puts up W's are the same people saying that we cannot judge the quality of a QB on results.

I'll take a QB with less physical talent any day that can get it done on the field and win games. I would take Tyler over Howard or Maulk over Booty any day. As for MF and JR, the jury's still out on that. Personally I think JR is the man to go with, not because of his physical talent but because of how he played last year. I would definitely like to see more of MF and RP next year though. God given skills will get you a scholarship, from then on it's the plays you make on the field that determine the rest. Let's give them a chance to show us.

Any time a know it all like you pulls out " We are here to discuss our opinions on LSU Sports " i know the sh$$ is getting deep. You arent here to discuss your here to tell your opinion and state it as fact.

You sure were willing to say that because Sabanfan didnt go to the game he couldnt possibly have a correct opinion on the subject.

If i may ask what are your credentials as a football expert.

Well i uh go to the games !!!

    Big stinking deal!!!

That means we have 94,000 experts like you at every game.

I will go with Coach Miles decision because it is his job that is on the line if he is wrong. So i expect he will pick who he thinks gives us the best chance to win.

It is not enough for you to state your opinion but you feel the need to attack others and make yourself to be the expert because you go to the games.

Here's my opinion so attack away!!!

I think they are both qualified QB's and not having a chance to see Ryan P. that the job should be up for grabs come spring and fall and based on knowledge of past performance and skills Coach Miles should pick who he thinks gives us the best chance.

I am not opposed to playing more than one early in the season to see who performs the best. Using a Coach Richt approach from 2 years ago when he had 2 good ones.

It may not be the way Coach Miles chooses to go but it is just my opinion.
