I don't recall Mauck ever calling a play that wasn't in the playbook and costing us a game against somebody like UAB!
I remember him throwing an interception to give Ole Miss a touchdown. I remember him fumbling the ball on the (opposite) goal line costing us a touchdown against Oklahoma. He wasn't perfect.
Chaos going to the games doesnt make you a Coach or an expert . It makes you a fan . I am not saying that the occasional open receiver doesnt get overlooked because it is a little different when you are on the field and look from that perspective. If you could play QB from the stands i am sure we would all be in the NFL. Put yourself behind an offensive line and then snap the ball and have monsters trying to maul you and you might not take the time too look to your 5th option on a play that you have been trained to throw elsewhere by the play designer. 11-2 looked pretty good to me .
bingo... we ALMOST didn't even make the SECCG b/c of Mauck's heroics against Ole Miss... He tried hard to give that one away...
Wait, WHAT?!?! Damnit. I could have sworn there was a guaranteed contract on the backs of those ticket stubs. Skip is going to get a call from me...I'm pissed. Really, when is everybody going to ditch that line of 'reasoning?' Why use such a fundamentally flawed perspective? I'll explain it again, as elementry as it sounds, and despite having done so last week. We are here to discuss our opinions on LSU sports. Not one person here thinks that they have executive powers over any of the coaching staffs. If the only way you can respond to someone that thinks things should be done differently is to take that route, why even waste your time if you clearly don't care to engage in rational discourse? Fifth option? Hell, I would love it if he would look at even his second option. Either way, there are plenty of other QBs that utilize their options more wisely. It's not some freakish ability.
But we DID make it because of that 60-something yard bomb to Devry later in the game. Good QBs atone for their mistakes.
What about the Florida game? Did he win that one for us? Just because we came back to win the game, doesn't mean that Mauck was a great QB.
I seem to recall JR rebounding from a terrible 1st half to beat Bama I also seem to recall him throwing a 50 yd bomb to beat Zona St. too... so if this is the case, then I guess in your opinion, that makes him the savior right?
QB abilities = some results, but results don't equal QB abilities. The two are not mutually exclusive. The better result of the Peach Bowl is not directly related to Flynn being the QB.
