Which games would you nominate? Would USL's 1996 win over a top-10 Texas A&M team make the list? Has a Div-1AA ever beaten a great 1-A team?
I believe it would be the game back in 1992 I think that LSU defeated a #1 ranked Alabama team. That was a great game.
As great an upset as that was, I don't think LSU was bad enough that year to warrant it being one of the greatest of alltime. But it was a great win for Curley.
A good idea for a thread! I'd think somewhere on the CFN site this has been discussed before---maybe. That USL/A&M game is a good choice, but just to be different I'll go with...UAB over Alabama. Oh, that's right, 'Bama is too chickensh*t to play UAB or Troy. Nevermind.
First time at home. Can't believe Miami (Ohio) hasn't been mentioned until now. Not "greatest ever", but a big one indeed over the past 25 years.
Biggest LSU upset was in the 1966 Cotton Bowl over undefeated #2 ranked Arkansas. Arky rode a 22 game winning streak into the game. LSU was 7-3 that year, hurt by injury to QB Pat Screen. Billy Ezell (Captain Easy) played a lot that year backing Screen up. Doug Moreau was our star end, with Joe Labruzzo and Don Schwab our two running backs. The national press stated LSU was not a worthy opponent for Arky. That was all the locker room material we needed. LSU! won, 14-7. The win over Fla. in 97 was a big one, probably # 2 on my list of LSU upsets.
