Its long, but you will appreciate this one. I had no idea the trials this young man has faced this early in his life. If it doesn't tug at your heart, you must come from another planet! http://www.sunherald.com/mld/sunherald/sports/16079291.htm I found the link at Dandy Don's.
That surely pulled on my heart.....I'm thankful he's stayed on track and has so much respect both as a person and as a football player. He has to know his parents are proud. As fans, we (at least I) sometimes lose sight of the fact that these athletes are young kids and experience human crisis like everyone and their "Superhero" status doesn't shield them from the pain experienced from life's everyday trials and tribualations. How hard must it be for them to have to endure the fan scrutiny, in addition to the other obstacles we all face. At the college level, you have to assume they are competitors or they wouldn't have achieved that level of play, so having a bad game- they are probably hard on themselves, then the media, then the fans. Just a thought from a different angle.
Thanks for the article. Thanksgiving Day this year was the marking of the one year anniversary of my mom's passing. My father passed over 13 years ago. This story really hit home for me. I had trouble reading the article through my tears. Thanks again.
