I was never one to believe the whole "Blanco is out to kill LSU because she's from UL, and everybody at UL hates us" theory, but this is disturbing:
Blanco flat out sucks, but her poll numbers have rebounded since the Katrina debacle. People have short memories in this state. It's a scary thought to think she can get re-elected. On a side issue, she vetoed a bill today that would have allowed competition in the cable industry. It's no coincidence that Cox announced another rate increase.
I don't think she has enough time left to remake LSU and it will cost her an awful lot politically. But the chancellor search has me worried. If it's a sham and Sally Clausen gets the job, there will be a major controversy. We still don't really know why Jenkins was forced out.
I don't think Blanco hates LSU, but she obviously favors ULL & will do whatever's in her power to make ULL stronger & LSU weaker IMO. If this state reelects Blanco, I will give up all hope for the morons.
Don't kid yourself. Cox had that rate increase rolling long before she vetoed the bill. The timing of the release was no coincidence, but the actual increase from our beloved CoK Block Cable is no surprise. :cuss: If not for the performance of my cable modem, I would have switched to DirecTV a long time ago. With the prices dropping on Sat HD-DVR receivers, it may not be long before I pull the trigger. Edit: I get so angry with Cox, I forgot to add my 2 cents that Blanco should quit messing with the BoS. It will come back to haunt the UL system down the road when we get a shift in the Gov mansion down the road. And we shouldn't rag on Sally Clausen. She has actually done a very good job in improving the UL system.
Yes, but she is still from the UL system - do we really want her running the LSU system when the possability exists that she doesn't have our best interest at heart?
Don't know why you think she wouldn't have LSU's best interest at heart. The UL system is much more than ULL. She previously ran the Dept of Education and SLU. LSU would be another step up in her career. I don't know if she is qualified to run LSU, but I've never heard anyone question her motives.
