I was wondering, what do Louisianians think of Gov Jindal's performance earlier tonight?

It really intrigues me due to my ties to the state....so let's hear it! ;)

I didn't watch television this week (except the LSU game last night) as my entire attention was devoted to Mardi Gras. In some ways it was a lot like politics. There were a bunch of crazy people yelling and screaming and as I kept throwing to them ($$$), I expected and received nothing in return. :hihi:

Did Obama speak? Did Jindal say his plan is not a stimulus? If the answer to both is yes, then I'm pretty happy with his performance.

I didn't think he did a bad job, considering how difficult it was to follow Obama's speech. While Obama fell short on details through most of his speech, it was hard to find much to disagree with.

Having said that, I found his speaking style to be a little weird, painfully obvious that he was reading from a teleprompter. Seemed a little lost in the words he emphasized. Seemed he got more comfortable as the speech went on.

As for the speech content, I was happy to hear him call out the way the Republicans acted the last 8 years in office. I thought the parallel with Katrina was dangerous both because of how much Federal money was spent, and the botching of it came under a Republican president.

Good game wasnt it DRC. LSU is pretty much rocking right now with Basketball, Baseball, we got to get this football thing back into place with the spring game.

I thought both Obama and Jindal did well. The President's speech was upbeat and well-presented. I noticed that quite a few times he got standing ovations by both sides of the aisle. There was very little in the way of details, but that was to be expected. One good point was there was very little in the way of Bush-bashing, although he did once again mention the budget deficit he inherited (conveniently forgetting to mention that he has doubled it). Grade: A+

I can't give Jindal quite as high a mark as I gave Obama, but he did well too. I thought he spoke a little too much about himself at the start of the speech, but that was a minor thing. I don't think his delivery was as good as the President's, but it was not bad either. It seemed to me that he slowed down his delivery which was good. His speech was conciliatory but still outlined fundamental differences between the Democrats and Republicans approaches to problems. Grade: A-

    Interesting observation.....

Jindal started out extremely poorly. I was wondering what in the hell he was doing. He did better towards the end but came across as a pre school teacher for most of the speech. He did fantastic on the Today show this morning. I find him to be better at Q and A than at speeches. In fact, I find him to be slightly better than Obama at Q and A but nowhere near him in giving speeches.

I think you will hear less and less Bush bashing as time goes on and more authoritative studies are conducted on what unraveled the economy. In what little I heard last night, I recall Obama mentioning something about how many factors where involved. In the final analysis I doubt anyone will be able to point the blame directly at one person or one party. The blood is going to be on lots of hands. Some more than others but it will be wide spread.

I think Jindal seemed a little nervous, and rushed his delivery. But that was better than any of Bush's speeches, IMO. Atleast he can communicate his points...and it was nice to have someone speak for those who still believe in the power of the people vs. the power of the government.
