Gotta be excited about the potential of the offense this season

Lots of people weren't exactly enamored with our effort on offense based on the threads started last night. And yet we rolled up 450 yards and 37 points on a potential top 15 defense in the nation.

So from that perspective we may be looking at an offense that could make this a "special" season, if you know what I mean.

I'm extremely excited. Where is LSU Dad, he deserves some credit because he was right about Cam Cameron. I just wish he would have been here last year. ZM is a different quarterback, his decision making has gotten so much better its insane. He also seems like his pocket awareness has gotten better, he gained first downs twice with his legs last night when the pocket broke down, and I don't know if I saw him do that at all last year. The out routes he threw were Manningesque, the back shoulder throws were on point, and the guy just looks like a fucking leader. Plus if anyone saw the interview with him post game last night, he said all the right things, was happy with the win, but not satisfied whatsoever, didn't throw anyone under the bus for drops, but mentioned the drops along with saying that he himself had to do a better job.

How many times did ZM overthrow receivers on the long ball last year? A bunch. The long ball was on the f'n money last night. I have never, NEVER been this excited about an LSU quarterback.

Jarvis Landry looked like Jerry Rice over the middle, strong and physical, and welcomes contact. OBJ has to get some stickum, but you can tell he is an enigmatic player. Dural if he wouldn't have had that TD drop looked pretty good, Boone had some good blocks, Wright played good on special teams. Magee was awesome, and Blue was good, but the fumble and his pass protection must improve. Kenny Hilliard, I hope he just needs a few more touches to get back to the player he was 2 years ago. The O line was pretty good in pass protection, they had their moments when they weren't but overall much better.

I was pleased with the offense. Look at TCU's defense and where they always rank nationally. Their defense is their strength, like ours always is.

I'm excited that opponents have to respect both the run and the pass this year, instead of cheating up on the run because they know we can't throw.

I predicted a beastly breakout season for Jarvis Landry.

Having two potential nightmare matchups at receiver is obviously a great advantage.

Hopefully we get that screen pass into our offense, we need it. We need these linebackers to respect short pass plays, instead of just autmatically dropping back into coverage. And add to that the TE in the seam. If we can do all that, this offense could be off the charts.

And let us not forget this was without a fantastic running back in Hill.

Add him back into the mix, and opposing defenses have a lot to worry about.

He actually underthrew the long balls, otherwise he has 2 easy TD passes to Beckham. But that's better than overthrowing them with no chance at a completion. Beckham did a good job adjusting both times, unfortunately he dropped one of them.

No doubt the only thing we have been missing for years is a legitimate passing game. Most of that was due to poor QB play. Mett showed last night that LSU can have a really good passing game, which should make everything else better. He looked worlds better than even his best game lasy season although the completion percentage doesn't show it. Now the offensive staff needs to work on spreading the ball around and making opposing LB's cover the backs and TE's. It will be interesting to watch how far they progress by mid season.

The deep ball was pretty much there anytime we wanted it, hell, just about any pass was there anytime we wanted it. WR's were open all night and the throws will come with time I'd imagine. ZM didn't miss by much and one he put on OBJ's fingers and he just didn't grab it. It was nice to see them move it through the air and have it look good.
