Press conference today....asked point blank: "You said the league didn't know about the additional Ray Rice video. Two years ago in the Saints bounty scandal, you told Sean Payton 'Ignorance is no excuse' and suspended him. Have you considered applying the same standard to yourself by resigning?" His reply: "No...blah, blah, blah. Yak, yak, yak. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit."
Roger's going to have to spend a couple of hours in the whirlpool afterwards. He's getting beat up pretty bad.
Tedy Bruschi calling for Goodell to resign...."We need to push the reset button on the NFL's leadership."
I'm watching Bob Ley and his group. From a PR perspective not a good appearance by Goodell. The press, particularly Rachel Nichols beat him up with tough questions, most of which he tap danced around.
This is ultimately about money. I'd say most of the owners (secretly) are in favor of keeping roger on. If and when the sponsorship money starts to diminish then they might have his head. Lets hope this happens sooner than later. Goodell is terrible for the league, an overpaid asshat.
Unless you see significant decreases in attendance and TV ratings, which I don't think you will, I think Roger rides it out. And assuming you don't have another major player phuck up in the next few days I think the media attention will fade. I think today was the last time you see Roger face the media any time soon. For the forseeable future press releases written by the PR gurus are the name of the game.
