How did Baton Rouge stay upright after Webster picked off Greene for the second time to seal the win? At last check, it didn't. Saban sprinted to the student section, saluted the faithful that made Michigan's Big House look like a maternity waiting room, then retreated behind closed doors with his team and a large band of recruits.

I got this quote from this article about Saban leaving the Tigers. The article is missing the point, when Saban does decide to leave (hopefully no sooner than 5 years??), LSU will still be here, the institution is bigger than it's parts.

Just for the record, that thought he put in italics...it never went through my mind this morning...

What went through my mind is whether Shyrone's our starter at tailback, and does Green's catch redeem him in the eyes of Stan Hixon, instead of moving him down the depth chart?

Bowe showed some GRIT with that third down catch on 3rd and 8 late in the 4th...that sliding grab was CLUTCH...

I think those freshmen are going to eventually play their way onto the field...but Green held 'em off for a few weeks...

i don't know why these writers assume that coaches all dream of being in the nfl. saban has worked in the nfl so he knows what it's like and he's turned down numerous offers to go back. i guess it's possible that he could be made an offer that he can't refuse. it'll be a lot easier for him to be a winner at lsu than in cleveland or chicago, in a league where parity is king. he has great resources and advantages at lsu. he has a great salary now and i'm sure it will go up with the job he's doing. he could run for governor of louisiana and win in a landslide. and i could be wrong, but i believe he enjoys the teaching of the game that goes on at the college level. it seems his true passion is turning 18 year old pups into badass 22 year old men. look at that high five he gave daniels after that 3rd down play. did that look like an nfl coach to you? he could have nfl aspirations if just to be at the so called "highest level" of the profession. but then again he may enjoy teaching hardworking kids just trying to make it rather than millionaire primadonnas who think they are god's gift to the world. i think saban is a college coach at heart and wants to be in the college game. I mean there are plenty of brilliant people who accept less notoriety and work as college professors instead of in the private sector because teaching young people is their true love. and these people aren't making millions already like saban is. i'd like to think he is a career college coach in the mold of paterno or bryant. Then again like I said some billionaire owner might make a ridiculous offer that he would be a fool not to take. Anyway we have him now and that's what counts. Let's win this thing BABY!!!

I think Saban will eventually leave for the NFL, but I don't think it will be anytime soon. His kids are still in school, and I remember several articles from the last two years where he stated that his family liked BR and that he didn't want to move his kids again until after HS.

B/c he is a good coach, his name will come up everytime there is an opening in the NFL.

Listen to Sabans press conference last week. He said something very telling that made me think he is not going anywhere for awhile.
He kept talking about his football facility LSU is building, and how he is going to have Oak Trees out front for All Americans, and how His program in the future etc etc.

Saban may leave who knows, but after hearing him this year about the Fans and his programs future. I got the feeling he is starting to really like it here.

Fact is Saban loves to coach its his thing, in the NFL you baby sit.
He gets EVERYTHING he wants at LSU, hell if he wants to be govenor we would elect him tomorrow after someone kidnapped the current governer to make sure there is room for him (Thats a joke no need to send the FBI to my house)

I dont know maybe I am dreaming but I believe Saban when he says he wants to be here for a long time and build something like Spurrier did, and the fact the way he has spoken this year pretty much says that. I have a feeling the Bears are not going to get there man after all.

Saban is a winner and has proven that to the college football world. He can recruit and has a fantastic product to sell. An education at a great university, and an opportunity to play a game you love. At the NFL level it's about how much money you have to spend to buy the player. To get a 5* player you have to give up something/someone, say two 3* players or draft picks of 3* players. That is all the NFL is about, buying and selling players to the highest bidder. IMO, there is little loyalty at that level. Then you contend with the players that already think they know it all. Remember, there was a rumor that he turned down $2M to replace Jim Mora, just before he came to LSU. He would not have had to do a lot of rebuilding at the colts.

At the college level the player coming in has 2-4 dreams/goals. 1-Play at LSU, 2-Play for Nick Saban, 3-NFL, 4-Education. I will not split hairs as to what order and that every player thinks like that, but I believe I'm in the ballpark.

There have been some memorable statements made such as Travis Daniels “Pointing to his helmet; I play for the name on this helmet, not the name on the back of my jersey”. Did any of you listen to the late version of the game day crew? Fowler stated “Do You Realize The effect You Have On These Fans? They hang on every word you say! I don’t believe he would have that type of loyalty in the NFL.

I think coach Saban will stay for some time to come. When or if he goes to the NFL, I don’t believe it will be to a sunken ship friend or no friend. JMO

If Saban was still in the Big 10 I could see him going sooner than later. Also I beleive when it comes times for Saban to leave he will have us set up to not miss a step with someone like Muschamp or Fisher to follow in his footsteps as head coach.
