Good article about Joe Mcknight LSU, five star recruit Sure hope he comes to LSU:grin: From Times-Picayune: The junior from John Curtis has been cited for his athletic versatility during the 2005-06 school year, one in which he had the distinction of playing for two state championship football teams in the same season. Thanks to Hurricane Katrina evacuation, McKnight played for eventual Class 1A champ Evangel of Shreveport in two games before returning to Curtis, whose 20th state title came in Class 2A. In the championship game against St. Charles, McKnight scored three touchdowns, including a 55-yard punt return, a 35-yard pass reception and a 58-yard rush in addition to a 95-yard interception return that was nullified by a penalty in the 31-6 victory. His junior football season culminated with McKnight being selected the Outstanding Player on the All-State and All-Metro football teams. In basketball, McKnight earned an All-District selection after averaging 17.2 points per game. In the spring, he won an individual Class 2A state track championship in the 100 meters and posted a best time of 10.40 seconds despite a hamstring injury. He also participated in the 200 meters and two sprint relays for the Patriots. "How could you not be happy with what happened my junior year," McKnight said. "I would be happy with that again (as a senior)." Of the host of individual awards showered upon the 6-foot, 195-pound McKnight, he said none can compare "with the state championship." McKnight is spending two weeks this summer vacationing and visiting in Los Angeles, which, coincidentally, is the location of one of his three finalists for a football scholarship offer. He said Southern California, Florida State and LSU are his three primary choices. "I am going to enjoy it," he said of the impending recruiting process and the accompanying visits and phone calls. "There is nothing bad about it. I might get tired, but it's fun. I like staying busy." McKnight will remain busy on the field, holding down a slew of positions once again this fall, although he said he wants to play running back in college. Operating as a wide receiver, safety, cornerback, punt returner and kick returner will remain on his prep résumé. "When I get back, I am going to work on getting better," he said. "You can always improve on everything."
sounds like a solid character guy too. i like his work ethic. some guys would just coast on natural ability but it sounds like this guy works at it and really loves the game of football.
I thought the same thing. That is the kinda attitude you like to see! I sure hope LSU lands this kid!!
