I was scanning through the LSU sports web site and saw the section on the band. Read the History of the band and got to thinking how valuable they are to the Tigers and the excitement they bring to the games. It just wouldnt be the same without them at the games. Sometimes i think we sort of take them for granted and i for one just wanted to let the band members know how much we as fans do appreciate their work. One of my favorite things about the games is watching the Band come down the hill and it gives me goosebumps and gets me fired up for the game. The way they keep the fans motivated and lets face it when it comes to the part T I G E R S Tigers It just doesnt get much louder than that. Any way i just wanted to give my thanks to the greatest college band on earth. The Golden Band From Tigerland
Amen. The tradition of our band is second to none. I try to explain pregame to my college football friends. They don't get it. You have to be there to understand it. I was sitting next to an Auburn fan last week. They could not believe the pregame atmosphere. That is because of the band. I am a TAF member and the pregame in the PMAC prior to the football games is unbelieveable. Well worth my TAF membership.
love the band glad they could make the trip to AZ this year .... it was horrible not to have them in 03 in az :geauxtige
The Tiger Band has always sounded better, marched better and looked better than everyone else's band. Is it true, or is this like a parent looking at their child, and only see beauty?
An ASU fan this year sent a letter to Mr. Wickes saying that he always sits next to the visiting team's band and he compared us to Southern Cal's band saying that we (or at least the group that went to Tempe), out-played, out-classed, and simply had more fun than USC's band. He made several other comments about us.... Many of us do understand our contribution to the atmosphere. Pregame is a very competitive thing to go through (tomorrow take a look at the band area while we are in pregame and you will notice over 50 people sitting over there). We all want to be a part of it, and sadly, people have to get cut from it. In the same aspect, there are many, many Tiger Band members that have never seen Pregame from an outside perspective and that really is a shame because everyone needs to experience that. Thank you for all the kind words... :thumb: :geauxtige
I've never seen it from the stands. I was always marching it. Pretty startling when you hit one note, and before you hit the next three the noise is so loud you can't hear yourself play. That is just freaking loud. I remember Moorhouse telling us about that. Tigerband is a part of my life from which I'll never be apart.
I work with a guy who played for the univ of Tenn and always tells me how much he respects the Golden Band from Tigerland. Also said whenever there is a competition, it is LSU and the 7 dwarfs.
Link to famous "Pregame" thread I think this is one of the best posts ever on TF. At the bottom of page 1, shadeauxcaster writes his experience with the band at the National Championship game. Brett saved it in the "Best of" forum. I get goose bumps EVERY TIME I read it. For any newbies or visitors, or if you just want to get a RUSH, go check it out.
I would not trade our band and traditiion for any other band in the world. We have the best, and we know it. Alot of people talk about Ohio St.'s "dotting the i" routine. I've seen that live and it's really kinda dull compared to what our band has to offer. All it is is one trumpet guy moonwalking or whatever to dot the i in ohio. I thought it was more than that. I sat next to an OSU fan who looked like he was gonna piss himself from this excitement to see this and asked him "was that it?" I missed my halftime bathroom break for that?
