The plan has been put in motion. Time to invade another Middle Eastern contry in the name of freedom and defeating terrorism. Keep the country at war, and people will forget the troubles at home. Have fun being the world police in Iran, George old boy. :thumb: :dis: :usaflagwa

I am not going to jump to any conclusions quite yet...

But, Bush will do what he has to do to make the world a safer place. That sounds cheesy but I am being honest. If Kerry would have been elected, I would have been scared of how he handled situations like this. I know W. will do the thing that is best for protecting America 10/10 times...

Or maybe just re-ignite an old war. The planned US missile defense system has the Russians feeling threatened and they are upping the ante again. The last thing we need now on top of the war on terror, the war in Iraq and the coming wars with Iran and North Korea is another cold war arms race with the Russians and the Chinese.

The Russians really can't afford this and they may just be posturing, but they are still the only country capable of damaging us badly and we should not invite trouble with them in an attempt to deal with North Korea. Here are todays headlines on the subject:

    Russia Tests "New Missile Systems"

"We are conducting research and are testing the most up-to-date nuclear missile systems, which, I'm sure, will be supplied to the armed forces in the near future," Putin told a conference of high-ranking military officials, according to a translation from Russia's Interfax News Agency.

"What is even more important, these systems will have no analogues in the other nuclear powers during the next few years."

    Russia Develops New Missile System

"Russian President Vladimir Putin today signalled his country was in the process of developing a new missile, unlike any other, which could evade the American missile defence shield."

US System Won't Stop Russian Missiles

"The US missile defence system is still on track to go on alert by the end of this year and key US military commands are conducting "shakedown exercises" in preparation, a defence spokesman said today.

Russia announced plans earlier today to acquire a new generation of intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of defeating any anti-missile shield, but the spokesman said the US system is not designed to protect against long-range attack from either China or Russia.

US ground-based interceptor missiles are being installed in Alaska and California primarily to defend against a limited attack by a rogue power such as North Korea."

Just what troubles at home are you so concerned with, that would trump the importance of stopping a country like Iran from developing nuclear weapons? Given our past history with this particular peace loving muslim country, do you think for one minute that they would hesitate to use them against us, or supply them to those that would.

You said "Time to invade another middle eastern (contry) in the name of freedom and defeating terrorism." Since this was intended to have a condescending tone, I'll respond in kind.
If not for freedom and defeating terrorism, what would your reason be for going to war, or would you prefer to wait until the Sears tower is taken out, or another embassy or Naval vessel. I for one am sick and f__king tired of hearing the left cry about GW running up the deficit that our kids and grandkids will have too pay. Who gives a sh!t how much we owe if some towel head brings some nukes over here and lights our a$$ up. I doubt our creditors will want glow in the dark money anyway. Maybe if the majority of crybabies would take their heads out of the sand for longer than it takes to cash a Gov't check, they would realize it's more important to have a country for their kids and grandkids, than one that has some debt.

How about this for a radical idea. Why don't we all get behind our president and support our country and our troops, because in case you haven't noticed, these rag headed motherf__k_rs are not going away.

Powell: Iran Trying To Fit Missiles To Carry Nukes

    POSTED: 9:45 am EST November 18, 2004

SANTIAGO, Chile -- Secretary of State Colin Powell said he has seen intelligence indicating Iran is trying to adapt missiles to carry nuclear weapons.

Powell made the comments while traveling to a summit in Chile. He said the intelligence indicates that Iran "had been actively working on delivery systems" capable of carrying a nuclear weapon.

There's no evidence that Iran has developed a nuclear weapon and the country said its sole interest is to generate nuclear fuel through low-level uranium enrichment.

But Powell said Iran is "working hard" to both make weapons and refit missiles and that "should be of concern to all parties."

Powell has no credibility after Iraq. Why do you think he's out of there?

    Red,
I read the article and I think your making a little too much out of this Russia vs USA thing, its not going to happen.
The Russians have to worry about terrorism just as much as we do after that church
    attack over there.
The article also says that Bush and Putin will be meeting later this week at a summit.
It should be our common goal to fight terrorism.
We are also in a venture with the Russians of a sorts if I remember right with the International Space Station.

I'm sure everyone understands the only thing that threatens the world are these Islamic Radical groups and countries.
C'mon, Like the USA wants to take over the world like the Roman Empire or Bush = Hitler?
Not saying you are saying that but you make like Russia thinks that?

    Mesquite,
Cmon? Iran, Syria, Pakistan are part of the problem in this war.
I totally approve of what he's doing but I think I would've done it differently especially
after all these innocent people are murdered and beheaded.
I just saw an article that said terrorists are crossing the border from Iran and going to
Iraq so we have to do something.
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,137896,00.html

Anyone remember Truman's war against Japan?
Thats what I'm talking about, a safer more effective war but I do realize that you eventually would have to send in ground troops but you could at least soften up the
    battlefield.

Lets remember that if we fail at this war nothing at home matters, terrorists will make the USA look like Isreal vs Palestine and no one will want to go to school or work.
The first sign we are weak and we will lose just like BlackHawk Down.
That really helped us around the world, Clinton is part of the reason this is going on,
he made our resolve and military look weak and vulnerable.
Just my 2 cents  :thumb:

I guess this is my biggest problem with it.....we already went to war once under Bush based off "intelligence" regarding WMDs. This could very well be categorize into the same thing since intelligence nowadays seems a little rough as far as accuracy goes.

If Bush wants to come out and say we are going to fight in Iran because they are harboring terrorist fine, but don't hide behind the vail of WMDs on missles for nukes. JUST TELL US THE TRUTH. If we were truly going after people due to nuclear capabilities, why not North Korea who has openly told the world they have them?

As for things Bush can pay attention to at home, lets talk about rising insurance rates, raising gas prices, social security, our deficit. and Ricky, while I respect your views, running up our deficit so our kids and grandids can deal with it to keep nukes out is absurd. we were at a much greater risk of nuclear attack in the Cold War period then we are now. I agree we need to secure our borders...but does that have to be accomplished in the Middle East? Why can't we stop immigration from other countries? that seems logical to me...you are from Iran, sorry, you pose a risk. goodbye. CLOSE THE DAMN BORDERS ALREADY!

let's fight this deal at home. :usaflagwa :thumb:

If you are surpirsed by that article you are about as alert as John F'n Kerry himself. Old news that people who pay attention already knew. It really is too bad Kerry didn't win the election. Had he done so, I'm sure all those radical Islamic idiots would have dropped their weapons, stopped building bombs and missiles, and put on damn Red Sox hats and we would have won the love and respect of a group of people who have hated the rest of the world for hundreds of years. We won't be invading Iran but we probably will bomb them to hell and back a few times. It is a totally different situation than Iraq. A different type of Muslim control and there is a resistance to the hard-line government in place in Iran. More than likely it will be some type of a civil war coming or coup to overthrow the government, and I'm sure the US will fund it out the wazoo.

As for the Russians, you better watch out for them. They want to be the major super power and are doing everything they can to get there. If they form that pact with China, India, and Brazil it is going to be trouble for us, from a military standpoint as well as economically. Regardless of what Putin says, we shouldn't trust the Russians one bit. What they were doing in Iraq days before the war began should be proof enough of that.

    Mesquite,
I think we agree more than we disagree then.

I agree about the deficit and rising rates and the borders.
The borders will NEVER happen though, both parties count on the hispanic vote way
too much to risk something like that.
It makes me sick as hell about the border situation in this country but I've given up
because it aint going to happen ever.
I hope Bush will fix some of these problems but it was more a lessor of 2 evils vs me a
    #1 Bush man.

I don't consider the Intelligence problems in this country Bush's fault though.
Clinton and the 1st Bush had the same intelligence, the problem is we need to fix it
from within not just blame an administration.

WHILE we are on the subject I have a question for everyone here.
What happened in the 1st hours of the war in the Gulf in 1990?
We attacked and Saddam sent his air force planes to Syria did he not?

Why is it so far fetched that the UN was informing Saddam about our activities and
he probably knew the time frame and that we would attack.
And that he sent all these weapon systems to Syria and or Iran?
The UN said they had them also, I remember this from the October surprise that said
weapons had disappeared under our nose when they really hadn't.
