Yes, because heterosexual parents after a split, never argue over who has to pay to raise the child. :hihi:

Hell, it's basically what the american legal system is based on. . .

My point is that prior to this court ruling there was no legal precedent set on which "parent" gets custody or which parent has to pay. I found it interesting that the homos want the same rights as we regular people have yet look to shirk the system at every nook and cranny.

We should not be allowing lesbians and homosexuals to have custody of and raise children. But since we have failed in that aspect, we should enforce the laws on the books just as we enforce them on normal people.

Just a question: Would you rather a child be raised in a negligent and uncaring environment by heterosexuals, or in a responsible and caring environment by homosexuals? (Not that it's your place to decide other peoples upbringings for them anyway, just a hypothetical scenario)

You are right in that it isn't my place to decide whether or not a particular child should be raised in a particular place. My arguments are simply biological. It takes a man and a woman to naturally create life, and any life that happens outside of that is wrong. (Before you ask, yes, I don't believe in in-vitro fertilization for married heterosexual couples that have previously been unable to conceive).

Fortunately, I seriously doubt that a foster organization in charge of placing a child with prospective parents will face a choice such as the one you have laid out in front of me.

If the choice is that cut and dry I would give the child to the heterosexuals. The difference in long-term damage that could possibly be done to the child is negligible.

I have lesbian friends who are raising a teenage boy and girl for the last 12 years. The birth father is worthless, as is the mother. These teenagers are great kids, normal in all appearance and preference. I don't know about others, but these ladies have taken in two throwaway kids, provided for them (read: saving the taxpayers), nurtured them, and from all evidence, have turned them into very solid citizens with bright futures.

I have other lesbian friends who raised three, turned out two winners, one loser, a win/loss record that is probably familiar to some parents on this forum. All the kids are heterosexual, by the way.

After reading your quote above, I'm wondering if you've had personal experience or observations upon which you've drawn your conclusions, or are your opinions simply based on religious beliefs ? I don't have any great quarrel with anyone's particular religious beliefs (extremists excluded). Just trying to figure out where you're coming from.

How so? Negligent parents often 'raise' children that end up in prison, become prostitutes, contract/spread HIV, etc. There is a far less chance of that occurance (albeit still not completely absent) by responsible and caring parents. And there is no statistical evidence to indicate that children raised in homosexual households are more predisposed to 'long-term damage.'

Look, I'll be honest with you. I think it would be weird as hell to be raised by two parents of the same sex. The idea of it conforms to hardly anyones mold of upbringing. I understand the heavy opposition to it. But the truth is, no one really knows what effect that it may have on a child. And in times of increasing numbers of unwanted children and unwilling parents, it seems that we should be a bit more accepting of the idea.

I agree - good points. I also think it would be kind of wierd to be raised by dwarfs or parents of a different race. That doesn't mean it would cause damage, just that it's not something we are used to.

I too, feel that a child deserves a father and a mother. But lesbians are tax-paying citizens and cannot be denied a right that any other citizen has. This is America.

Do we not? The judge in your story enforced the child support laws didn't he? Gays may have bizarre beliefs and practices, but they are quite "normal" as human beings and citizens in the eyes of the law. And this is how it should be.

You can personally discriminate against gays because of your religious prejudice if you choose to do so. But the law should not. Gays do not rate special privilege, nor do they rate special discrimination.

The only problem I have with gays are the institution of "Hate Crimes". A crime is a crime and the murder of a homosexual is no more heinous than the murder of anybody else. Just my opinion.

I guess you could say that since I believe homosexuality is wrong and is an abomination (how does the human race propulgate itself when two same-sex partners get together)?

The advance of the homosexual 'lobby' in America corresponds with the advance of our culture that glorifies self-gratification over compassion and sacrifice.
