They are deserting a sinking ship. It has taken Ron Zook less than a season and a half to screw up all that Visor Boy built up for years.

What has Zook done at UF?

I am not well informed about UF football, however, I was under the impression that Zook hired a lot of talented football coaches around him and that he has recruited extremely well. So, my question is what could he have done to cause this team to be so average or to under perform? I would think that he could just get out of the way and let his coaches coach. To show my ignorance, I used to think I could win some games as a head coach if you let me pick my assistants (surround myself with best talent), kind of like Bush has done in the Whitehouse.

Someone may want to link Soviet's chatter about all of this. Apparently, there's some control issues on the offensive side of the ball between Zook, Zaun, & the other guy (like the Stooges). For what it's worth, I heard an NFL scout the other day say that the Gators have a lot of young talent right now but don't have the JR/SR talent that they've had in the past (other than Troupe).

    Good assistants

I have never heard a bad thing about Charlie Strong as a D-Coordinator and the O-Coordinator has had a similar reputation. I felt that Zook would be OK just for the simple fact that he hired people that have had success elsewhere.

As far as lacking upperclassmen on the field, this makes total sense. We have seen the importance of this year after year throughout college football. If you have coaches that are new and are not on the same page then you are most definitely going to see negative effects from the turmoil on the field, i.e. Bama in Duboses' last year, AU this year, and apparently UF this year as well.

Thanks for the insight. AU picked a bad year to have UF dropped from its schedule. We AU fans would like to beat them for a decade just like you LSU fans would.

Whenever you have an abundance of talent at one position, there are going to be transfers. For all their problems with coaching, Florida has been recruiting well. Good players who are not getting into the rotation can find playing time somewhere else.

It happened here this summer when we were looking at seven quarterbacks at fall practice. The QBs who felt they were the bottom three and wouldn't get to play left the team for greener pastures.

    It's always been that way.
