Hey folks - just spent the better part of two hours browsing and jousting with the folks on CockyTalk -- USC Message Board. Observations: 1. Many of them really don't respect what our defense has done so far. 2. Most of them think there's a chance we're overlooking them - HA! 3. They really like the Ole' Ball Coach - as they should. 4. They think their offensive line is very weak - yeah baby. 5. They really, really, really hope #2 will come true. I don't see this one staying close past half-time. But, I'm a Tiger fan...so...there ya go.
have to disagree with u crunch.....Most people on the SC board give LSU a lot of respect as they should. LSU without a doubt has the best defense in the nation and the offense has been quiet impressive also. There are some facts that i don't think anyone has looked at yet. 1. SC does't have to win this game to keep them in the hunt for the SEC east title... So therefore, they will come in there with nothing to lose, and no pressure. 2. LSU on the otherhand has everything to lose....They are #2 in the country in the national championship hunt.....Every team is gunning for you.......They have to bring their A+ game every week..That means no bad days for the Offense and no bad days for the Defense........And you have to agree that in the SEC that is very hard to do...The pressure for your team is immense. So I have to ask you, Which place would you like to be in? Am I saying that SC comes their and wins....NO, but I like our chances....Just because you can't count any team out, especially if they have nothing to loose.
Well I was also lurking that same South Carolina message board. I came away with the same attitude as my fellow Tiger. South Carolina fans are trying really hard to convince themselves that we are vastly overrated. As for your question, I'd much rather be ranked #2 and in the National Championship hunt than have the "it doesn't matter if we lose" attitude. If the Gamecocks want to step up to the next level in the SEC, they have to be confident that they will win every week and accept nothing less.
OH MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, SC and Its fans are past the "It doesn't matter if we lose attitude." and I never said that. But we are realistic and know that you have to crawl before you can walk. The goal the gamecocks set for this year was to win the SEC Championship and anything else will be a dissapointment not only to the fans but to the Team. As I have said I have a lot of respect for LSU and think that they should be #1 in the country.:hihi: :thumb: Do I have confidence in SC? YES Do I think they CAN win at LSU? YES, but i know that they have to play a lot better than they have played all year. But if SC loses, our team, nor its fans, are going out of BR thinking that our season is over. PS. This is not meant to be smack talk, and I hope no one is offended. :dis:
Whether it's reflective of the USCE fan base or not, here in Charleston the local sports radio show had a lot of fans on yesterday...all of them, some more than others, were calling for a USCE win. I wasn't shocked, but I was surprised at how little respect they had for LSU.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't think it is so bad if our fans think that SC can go to BR and win, thats not disrespect for your team, thats just having confidence in your team. After all isn't that what sports is all about????????? I have seen many post on this board that think that SC will not even be in the game at halftime, but I'm not offended by that, i think it's kind of funny actually. to quote Rick Flair "to be the man you have to beat the man" right now LSU is no doubt the man in College Football. After Saturday you may still be the man but we really won't know until the smoke is all cleared.
Really guys, there's got to be at least some minor movement at USCe for a new mascot.....:dis: Is there any discussion among USCe fans about Louisiana being one of the last 2 states, or the last state, where cock fighting is legal? Would any of you USCe visitors consider attending such an event if we could find one for Fri night? Beer, buffalo wings, women, bloody chickens, sounds like my kinda evening, how bout it?
Sounds like fun 71, wish I could make it.....Out of the counrty at this time though.....It wouldn't be a fair fight if you put the chicken in their with a tiger..........:yelwink2:
I am looking forward to a fun game because I really have a lot of confidence in our team being ready to play when we hit the field. S Carolina is one of the best, if not the best, teams we've faced to date. The chess match between Spurrier and Pelini should be interesting.
You don't play "my team" this year. Smoke is the baseball coach. There, you have the advantage. I'm one of those that think the Gamecocks won't be in the game after the 1st half. The line right now is 16 for LSU...and I took it all the way.
