The "game week routine" that LSU uses in 2005 will probably not be altered by this bad weather and Hurricane "K". We're glad LSU has such a great indoor facility and can practice during torrential rains. The only way the hurricane cancels practice at LSU's indoor facility is if winds get extremely high in Baton Rouge Monday afternoon. It will be interesting to see what routines Miles has during game week. Will all focus be on Darryl Dickey's North Texas Mean Green and their top-ranked RBs. Or, will LSU coaching start preparing for ASU early? Here are 20 Questions for the game (maybe even a poll question or two in there) I will be looking forward to finding out. 1. Will LSU hold NT rushing below 50 yards? 100 yards? 150 yards or more? 2. Will LSU hold NT passing below 50 yards? 100 yards? 150 yards or more? 3. Will LSU hold NT total offense below 100 yards? 150 yards or more? 4. How many interceptions will LSU have against the 2 NT freshman QBs? 5. Will the Mean Green even score against LSU? 3 points? 6? 7? 10 or more? 6. Will the LSU offense open up their passing attack for this game and dare other teams to beat them, or will they play conservatively and show ASU little or nothing of their improved passing game? 7. Will LSU pass or run the ball 40 times? 50 times? more than 50? 8. Will LSU's offense exceed 400 yards? 500 yards? 600 yards? 9. How many of LSU's QBs will play in this game? 1, Russell, the starter? 2, Russell & Flynn? All 3? 10. What percentage completion will LSU QBs have for the game? 60%? 70%? Better than 70%? 11. Will the rushing attack without Broussard's power rushing be noticeably less effective? 12. Will Special Teams play be better? Punting? Kicking? Returns? 13. Will Pelini's work in the Giveaway/Takeaway margin pay off this year? Will LSU get many turnovers against NT? 1? 2? 3? 4 or more? 14. Will LSU score 33 (the line on the game)? 40? 50? 60? 70 or more? 15. Will LSU run up the score (for the Polls) and/or substitute freely & stop using big plays once the game is out of reach? 16. Which freshman (esp. RP) will get to play in the game? 17. Which linebackers will start? look the best? 18. Which secondary lineup will be most effective? 19. Will it be Helms or Arnold at the guard spot that plays best & wins the job? 20. Will LSU's pass rush be devastating without Spears? fair? effective? great? The preseason anticipation was killing me. Game week is finally here. The answers to these questions and more will go a long way to seeing where LSU is as a FB team before key games against ranked ASU & Tennessee.
1. below 100 total yards rushing 2. below 100 total passing yards 3. around 200 yards total for em 4. 2 interceptions 5. 7 - 14 points, late in the game. 6. won't show all their cards, but will practice air attack to perfect it before big games 7. dunno 8. around 500 yards for LSU's offense 9. All 3 QB's 10. starter will have 60ish %, backups probably less 11. noticeably more effective - not because of alley's loss, but because the team including running game will be that much better this year. 12. yes, to all of the above. 13. 2 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries. 14. atleast 40 15. not for the polls, but to get everything clicking 16. RP, not sure who else right now 17. Thought this was already known? 18. hmm, dunno 19. i don't know enough to guess. 20. even more effective than under Saban.
1. 100 yds 2. 150 yds but not much more 3. 250 max 4. 3 (one for a TD) 5. I give them 14 6. They want to see what the QBs got, so I think they will try to pass early, b/c we can always blow them off of the line as Plan B 7. Run a little more than pass, only b/c of the weighed down 10-12 run plays we will do to end the game 8. 550 yds 9. Russell for 3, Flynn for a drive, RP for a drive 10. 60% 11. Not at all... people forget that Addai is a power back too 12. We won't punt. I think Jackson learned A LOT playing baseball about composure, and I think he becomes a good kicker. 13. we get 4, and give them 1 (+3) 14. 52-14 or somewhere about 15. You want to be impressive, but 50-0 or 80-0 don't mean a whole lot against NT, Zona St. is the game to impress. 16. Perrilloux, Korte, LaFell, Francois 17. Spadoni, Vaughn and __________ fill in the blank? Hollis? I don't know defensive depth 18. secondary lineup? umm? Stevenson, Prude, Landry, Daniels 19. I think Arnold wins it 20. Our pass rush will be beastly... Kyle Williams will draw so much attention that the end will walk to the QB if he has to
I highly doubt LaFell plays, although I could be wrong. I think Hollis will definetely start. Chevis Jackson will probably start over Stevenson. And everything I've heard this summer points to Helms starting.
if you can redshirt after playing a little bit, I think anyone even close to being ready, will get a look if the game gets ugly, b/c the schedule sure dont get better till App St, and I think it is too late for them to play then?
I guess you're right, in mop up duty LaFell could get some playing time, although I'd prefer to see the starters in at WR when Flynn and RP come in so we can judge them a little better.
It's a foregone conclusion & common sense that LSU will be ready to play and win this game, Dilbert. :dis:
