The New York Times published a preseason top-10 poll today:
    USC
    Florida
    Michigan
    West Virginia
    Arkansas
    Ohio St
    Cal
    Rutgers
    Boise St
    Va Tech

Also, this tidbit on TV ratings:

And while Slive called the Boise State-Oklahoma game “one of the great games that any of us will ever see,” its television rating may generate an even bigger surprise than the game’s ending. Boise State’s overtime victory, which was capped with a trick play and an on-field marriage proposal, ended up being one of the worst-rated games in the nine-year history of the B.C.S.

The Houston Chronicle reported Friday that the game ended up with an 8.4 national rating, ranking it as the third-lowest-rated game in B.C.S. history. (It was No. 34 over all out of the 36 games since the B.C.S. was created.)

The Orange Bowl’s ratings the next night were even worse; the game between Wake Forest and Louisville ended up with a 7.0 rating, the worst in B.C.S. history. (Game No. 35 was Smith’s Utes’ trouncing of Pittsburgh two years ago, a game widely expected to be a ratings clunker.)
    _____________

Poor Boise State... all that effort while people were watching "Raymond"....

    Good!

Our tigers play better when they're ignored.

I still think Florida should be ranked no. 1 because they will be the defending champs. Also, I don't like 'SC being ranked one because it is just too difficult to go wire-to-wire. Besides, does the preseason rankings really matter?

Unfortunately yes. Auburn was left out of the BCS National Championship game because of preseason rankings.

Florida won't be preseason number 1 because they are losing a ton of senior starters and a very proven QB in Chris Leak. Tebow shows promise, but he's yet to see extensive action on the field. As for SC, again, it all comes down to players returning (which is why I'm wondering why LSU is left out of the top 10 completely), although I'm sure there will be a difference with the speculation that Dwayne Jarrett is coming out for the draft.

The NY Times preseason ranks meaning absolutely squat in the grand scheme of things.

Nice comment about VA Tech....finished strong, by blowing a huge lead in the Peach, errrr Chickfila Bowl? True the could be the best in the ACC - but what does that mean, maybe a 3 loss team?

I'd pay more attention to one compiled by Dr. Laura.
