    Fresno State vs LSU

It has been announced that on Oct 21 the LSU Tigers will play Fresno State in Tiger Stadium. It will be the first time Fresno State has played in Death Valley. We played each other in the 2005 season and it turned out to be a pretty good game.

    A little about our team...

First, let me say it's a great honor to play a team of LSU's caliber and tradition. In addition, it's refreshing to see the level of respect so many of your fans have given us.

It should be a hell of a game, and hopefully my Bulldogs will live up to the task.

    First the bad for us...

Lost our OC to North Carolina. Lost our QB, RB and LT to graduation.

Lost our best CB to the draft (left early), lost our FS to graduation. Lost our most inspirational and best DL to graduation. Lost our WLB, maybe for the season, as he tore his ACL in the USC game this year.

So basically we have a new WLB yet to be determined, and no one proven at the other CB spot.

What we do have coming back...

The best RB on the team sat out all of last season (missed basically two full seasons) rehabbing a torn patellar tendon. Word is he could have played last season, but they were being very cautious. Anyway, if he's back our RB situation will be solid...although after him we have very young players. A true freshman may even see playing time.

WR we are very solid. Our top 3 WR all return as does our TE and 4 of 5 OL.

New QB will be interesting to see. QB battle in the spring for the starting spot, but it looks like it will be Soph Tom Brandstater at the helm. Much better athlete than our previous QB Pinegar, but not nearly as experienced.

On defense, we were able to score two very good DE's...a JC transfer who played his freshman year at USC named Mike Stuart and a transfer from Washington State named Jason Roberts who will be an NFL guy one day. Couple that with two very good interior DL...Senior DT Louis Leonard, 6'4", 330lbs and Junior NT Jason Shirley, 6'5" 315lbs and we will be pretty solid up front.

Overall we have good team speed...but that is probably something LSU sees every week in the SEC.

The one thing we do well is play to the level of our opponents. Sometimes that works to our disadvantage. But in these games, we usually bring all you want and then some.

Our game against USC, quite frankly, we did not play very well. We could have played a lot better, and it was almost enough to beat them. 5 turnovers, and we still lead 42-41 with 8 minutes to go.

Crowd intimidation or noise will not be a small factor. We've played at Tennessee, Oklahoma, Ohio State and USC. We may have had one false start in each of those games, if that.

Looking forward to coming down to the Bayou. Beautiful sites, beautiful people, beautiful food...oh yeah, and there's a football game on top of it!

While I appreciate your input, and WELCOME LSU playing a good OOC team,
You have sadly underestimated a saturday night in death valley.

    Seriously. Its really THAT loud.

I've been to Baton Rouge before...

I have been to a Saturday night game in death valley.

I've been to several big stadiums. Ann Arbor, Columbus, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, Auburn. They are all equally loud, IMHO, and fairly sustained.

Congrats on the tougher schedule...We've still got a little "cupcake" schedule left next year to get us back on our feet.

.....Then it's FSU in '07 in J'ville. It's starting to get tougher for Bama.

Michigan, by shape, is hardly loud. This makes me suspect of your knowledge, as most people know this about the Big House.

You relate well to sheep, don't you?
