My gardening friends are having loads of fresh tomatoes coming in and I've been presented with a couple of bags already.

There are few things I like better than a fresh tomato sandwich.

    A BLT is one, of course . . .

Cheese on a BLT is like mayonnaise in your grits--a hanging offense in Nawth Louisiana. You would have to add turkey and make a club sandwich to avoid execution.

i wish i were down there where i could have gotten an earlier start. add to that i was a few weeks late getting tomatoes plants out, and it is gonna be mid july before i have any tomatoes from my plants.:(

often mine dont even make it inside. i just rinse them off with the hose and eat them right there!

unfortunately, one year my dog did the same thing, minus the hose. my tomatoes were disappearing and i would find bits of tomato that werent eaten in my yard. i thought that birds or something were getting into them. until one night i was outside with the dog and looked over at the bed i had them planted in and found her helping herself to them. she had good taste. she knew to eat the ripest reddest ones!

My dog won't eat a vegetable unless you put gravy on it.

that explains it. all five of my dogs have been weims. :hihi:

mine love strawberries too. and bananas.

last year at the end of the summer i saw echo nosing around the tomato vines checking them out a little too closely. i have a feeling i may have another thief on my hands. i am gonna have to keep an eye on him when they start turning red this year!

My favorite way to eat fresh tomatoes is cold, sliced, with a little bit of salt.

My grandfather grew incredible tomatoes, and of course, nothing bought in a store can even come close.
