This is not true. At least 33 countries forbid or severely restrict abortion to save the life of the mother. LINK

This is not true. There are many pro-lifers who recognize no exception whatsoever. Almost all of these so-called partial-birth late term abortions that the lifers feel so strongly about involve "health of the mother" issues.

In our culture, a pro-life law would be excepted by health of the mother issues, beyond any reasonable doubt.

"everybody" is such a coarse word. Use "everyone" instead.

Your link is to a page that says "see the more recent version" across the top. According to the more recent version, only 5 countries forbid abortion to save the life of the mother, while 150 countries have an exception for abortions that are done to save the life of the mother. In 19 countries, it is generally legal to have an abortion to save the life of the mother, subject to certain restrictions that aren't listed or explained.

OK, only 24 countries prove your original statement wrong instead of 33.

One would hope, but Roe already includes this provision and the pro-life movement is trying to overturn it.

The words are synonymous. I use each of them and regularly.

It's not a matter of worth, its a matter of rights. Living, breathing voting human beings should have more legal rights than embryos, who should be represented only by their mothers. That's all.

The debate is not over legal rights. It's about the right to live. Huge difference. If someone argued that a fetus should qualify for welfare or that a pregnant woman should be allowed to vote twice, I'd agree with you.

5 countries, not 24. Of the 174 countries that made abortion illegal, only 5 don't provide an exception for when abortion is necessary to protect the life of the mother. But yes, I was wrong to say that all countries that made abortion illegal provide an expection to protect the life of the mother, when there are 5 countries that don't have such an exception.

Regardless, you're statement that pro-lifers are against abortion even when it is necessary to save the life of the mother is just as ridiculous as one saying that the pro-abortion crowd wants to make every medical student learn to do abortions to get their MD.

It would be like saying that the people who are against murder are also against the exception for when one kills another in self-defense.

Roe makes the right to an abortion a right protected by the US Constitution. If Roe was overturned, then the state legislatures and the state supreme courts would be allowed to decide for themselves what to do regarding abortion law in their respective states. Some state supreme courts might hold that their state constitution protects the right to an abortion, just like the Supreme Court did in Roe.

Also, even if the US Supreme Court did overturn their decision to make the right to an abortion a right protected by the US Constitution, I doubt anybody would have a problem if they maintained that a woman still has a Constitutional right to an abortion when it is necessary to protect her life.
