Curtis Taylor is listed as the backup to Landry on dandydon. We also have Chad Jones coming in as the highest rated safety and will be a true freshman. I expect we will land him.

How do you see it panning out at the FS position next season?

I know the coaches are very high on Taylor. The only problem is he doesn't have that much PT because we were blessed to have Landry back there all the time.

Steltz will be the FS and Danny McCray will be the SS.

I was thinking that exact same thing.

At least we know that Steltz will be the staple of that safety combo. He'll be the constant.

I wouldn't be surprised to see McCray get the early spot because of his playing time this past season with perhaps splitting time with Taylor early on, but eventually being a 3-man revolving door with McCray, Taylor and Chad Jones before one of them takes hold of the position and doesn't give it up.

Im in agreement with Steltz being the FS and McCrae being the SS. LSU uses 3 safties very often in pass packages. Sometimes even up to 4. So all the safeties will get PT. Taylor and Jones will battle it out for the 3rd spot.

Chad Jones isn't a given yet. I'm hoping for the best but he did say he had a great visit at USC.

What do you guys think about Curtis Taylor? He hasn't had any PT because he was behind Landry but he does have good height and could be pretty good.

I know someone said that the coaches are high on Taylor, which Im not doubting. I just feel if he was THAT good he would be in the game. Steltz received a lot of PT because he was good enough. So he was used as the 3rd safety. McRae was the 4th safety as a true freshman. If the coaches had that much faith in his skill he would be in the game. Im sure he has the potential to be very good, he just has to reach it.

I like Steltz a lot and I think he has the mental makeup of being a free safety. He just seems to be in the right place at the right time a few too many times to be a coincidence.

When he jumped up on Samarjila and knocked that ball out of his hand... THAT's when I knew he was sick.
