There is a free live web cast of the TTU game tonight according to Fox. Tech should be the team that knocks off texas for you. Plus they are fun to watch. If you haven't seen them play, you will be surprised. This isn't a bombs away offense, a lot of short to medium passes which break for long plays. This game will not be pretty, Indiana St. is a D-II team which lost to an NAIA school. They also throw the ball alot. Should be a long game with lots of scoring. http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/2997856
You know BIG 12 should be ashamed to let this happen. TT is playing bunch of unmatched opponents to prove what? And why in the hell would you waste your time watching this game?
When making schedules schools are not provided with projected weak teams list. Yes, this team is a D-II, but I haven't seen too many D-I schedules without a D-II team on their schedule. Heck, AU even played the Citadel last year, that was so wrong fsu played them this year. I guess the SEC and pac-10 also should have stopped the usc-arkansas game. According to the media, usc should just move to the nfl. TTU is blasted for running up the score, but last week reserves played for half the game. They threw the ball, but that is their offense. I didn't see coach royal at ut throw the ball when his wishbone was trampling people. It was the offense, backups run the same offense as 1st teamers. Last week TTU had 40 first downs. You don't get 40 first downs trying to hit a home run every play. They were throwing the ball in front of the DB's. Are the players to drop or bat down passes in their direction? Yeah, they still scored 80. I hated the offense when it first came to Lubbock. It was like bowden not using S. Davis at AU, leaving Auburn with one of the worse rushing games in the country. Then I grew up a little and watched what was really happening. I spouted the truism, you must run. Then I saw Leach does run, and screen. See how many times the RB touch the ball. TTU was able to compete against the big boys without the blue chip players. At least on offense. The D is improved, not great. The offense can't cover the gap for the D against some big time teams. But as the players are better athletes, TTU is becoming more competitive. I would have hated to see Leach leave Lubbock. If he had your athletes it would be scary. His schemes can make ordinary players look great, yours would be awesome. Tech will make money tonight. They have a 50,000 seat stadium. They can't afford to pay big name teams to come to Lubbock. Hopefully they will get their timing down enough with these practice games and do to ut what they did to cal. Feel free not to watch. It really doesn't matter to me. If you do watch though, pay attention. And please don't watch just so you can be shocked and outraged. It won't be pretty, but you might learn something about football. Even Indiana St. has some pretty interesting schemes. Oh yeah, they throw a lot also.
I'll be honest, when the search opened up, I hoped TTech's coach came here, because with that system, Russell and our WRs, we could get 60 on anyone, but I am happy with what we have! I do like TTech a lot... I hope they pound Texas
Only putting up 56 pts so far....early in the 4th. Tech's offense is stagnant and very slugglish tonight.
I think with Leach's offense here, the Weapons of Mass Destruction would have been found. BTW, it would have looked a little bad.....having the football team put up more points than Brady's Bunch. :hihi:
Leach is getting better and better skill players. Guess it is good that he is started playing second teamers this year, they need the work. If he could ever start getting the D players that would come in and create 3 and outs TT would be scary good. I would have hated to see him against AU, but would have loved to see his system at LSU with top 5 talent on both sides of the ball. Things are, however, as they are. Now go take care of the tears and TTU will take care of the steers.
