Comfort was sent to NYC NOT to take Covid patients, but to take "other" patients, thus freeing up hospital beds for Covid. After a week or so, protocols were amended and Covid patients were sent to Comfort. As I understand it, a lot of paperwork, checking boxes, and clearing hurdles was required. Comfort took between 150 to 200 patients. It’s total capacity was 1000 beds, but at no scenario those were all Covid beds. But . . . . the failure to fully utilize Comfort was a HUGE SUCCESS STORY. Strict stay at home and social distancing cut the spread of Covid and thus, never overwhelming hospital beds in the city. Don’t forget the DoD facility in the Javits Center cared for over 1,000 patients, too.
Taking you at your word, none of this excuses what happened in the nursing homes, and none of that can be blamed on Trump. Also don't forget that Trump gets blamed for the "ventilator shortage" when it was in fact, learned that NYS had a surplus of ventilators in storage, even while Cuomo was screaming for Trump to send more.
Actually Comfort has 500 beds, 60 of which were used and Javits had 1000, where around 230 were used. Freaking NYC
