Former hostages allege Iran's new president was captor

    Thursday, June 30, 2005

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The White House said Thursday it is taking seriously the allegations by former hostages that Iran's hardline president-elect, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was one of their captors at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran a quarter century ago.

President Bush told foreign reporters he has "no information, but obviously his involvement raises many questions."

"As soon as I saw the face, it rang a lot of bells to me," Don Sharer, who served as the embassy's naval attache at the time, told CNN.

"...Take 20 years off of him. He was there. He was there in the background, more like an adviser."

We will go to war with these people. Thank goodness we have the troops in theater. I don't dislike the Iranian civilians, the ones I have met always seemed nice enough, but, they have had some screwed up governments. I have said all along that the reason we went in to Iraq, when we did, was to better position ourselves for Iran. Let's get it on.

That situation is untenable, and I look forward to seeing how Washington responds. I tend to go with Saltyone on this. Maybe not all out war, but a few missiles sure would be well-deserved.

    You people are loco.

We need to go back into our shell and lick our wounds. Let them behead each other on television or whatever the funk they do in their spare time.

I say we concentrate on China/North Korea unless we just pull everyone out, drop everything on the Middle East and turn it into one big parking lot.

No, not a parking lot, I say we turn it into one big Texaco. China and North Korea would be such a different war than the middle east. If we fight one, we will be fighting the other. Europe would get more involved with that one also. I think we would be talking WWIII if we go at N. Korea right now.

I'm game, let's get it on. Considering I missed Iraq (not sure if I'll end up going or not), I'm hopeful for at least one of the next two scenarios.

As for the Texaco? YES. I'm tired of paying over $2 a gallon. There is no way you could possibly argue this war was for oil. I don't see any oil!

Tigerfan, even with a year of flight school left, you will see Iraq. Damn, I envy you, flying those Cobras would be a dream come true.

We are to "easy" on foreign countries that support terrorism, Iran, Syria, Pakistan and
any other country that I didn't mention.
I didn't mention Saudi Arabia because that is a sticky country, we would cut off our
own heads, no oil for us then.

I do realize our military aint what it use to be, maybe we can work out a pack with
    the new government of Iraq?
Its funny how people on the other side might want us to cut and run from there, you
never know what the future holds, that might turn out to be one of the best things
    we ever did.
Its not nearly as hard when you can fly from bases in Iraq, especially bombing runs
    next door.

Mystickalilusion, I'm shocked at your statement about turning the middle east into
    a parking lot.
This is one of my major complaints about the war on terror, we are too soft on our
    enemies these days.

We "both" could support such a thing?
They started this war on 9-11 and I don't care how many countries lose their lives that support terror, anything to save American Blood.
Just like Truman did to end WWII.
