There have been exceptions, but I think that Ole Miss has been classy in defeat. They had a good team and played well. The combination of our raw talent and coaching advantage was too much for their superior quarterback play and preparedness for this game. I have a more positive opinion of Ole Miss than I did before. Some of the our fans have been poor winners. We can do without the "Ole Piss" comments and the whining about how we don't deserve to go to the SEC Championship because we played a close game.
I don't know about the Ole Miss fans, but those Ole Miss players played their hearts out yesterday along with the Tigers. I know I have much more respect for thier program after that game. No matter how you look at it, both teams came into yesterdays game with a combined total of 3 losses, and both teams gave the fans a hell of a game to watch. I don't understand why our fans feel they have to bash the hell out of the other SEC teams, in order for LSU to be respected. We always talk about how strong and great the SEC is, then go on to say how everyone other than us sucks. Last night proved that rankings, records, and talent do not matter as much as people think. That was a close game that could have gone either way. It doesn't mean we are not as good as our 10-1 record, and showed that it takes a little heart to win football games. After that Ole Miss game, something tells me that the Ark game will not be as close. The Tigers will be ready.
Eli and Ole Miss is the toughest, high-powered offense that we'll see this year (at least in the regular season). Our defense really played well and brought one of the nation's best offenses down to earth. Arkansas is centered around the running game--which is our defenses top strength. After facing QB's like Eli, and David Greene, no QB on Arkansas' roster scares me--let alone even make me flintch. The Razorbacks running game is what needs to be delt with, and Lavalais and his "Bull-gang" will make that priority #1. Unlike this last game vs Ole Miss, the goal for our offense won't be to maintain drives, chew up clock to keep the opposing offense off the field. No, this week will be to jump out early, score, score and score...and make Arkansas abandon their strength (the running game), and force them to try and beat us in the air. And that's where our defense can continue to blitz like there's no tomorrow. Should we do these things against the Hogs, I believe the score will be along the 27-14, margin.
